  1. I like the idea of the haggis and black pepper. That sounds nice. I found the joy of haggis after my brother was posted up that way and he brought the proper stuff back for me to try. Lovely it was too.
  2. Come on get some picks up...... Sounds messy.
  3. Second is a saw I could do with being identified please. Can't remember how it ended up there but has been under the bench for ages. I do remember replacing the fuel lines as they were all shot. It will fire up and run for a bit before dying. It has no markings on it as to what saw it is. Would be nice to get it going again. Don't even know who's it is.
  4. Two posts tonight. First is the hilux with the new power steering pump fitted and all is quiet again. What a pig of a job to get that out.
  5. I think he is trying to tell you morten that although your advice is very usefull to the op, that the thread has turned into a urm how should I put this...... Homeo erotic dream for the arbtalk techies..... . But I think morten is on the money and the thread needs to get back on track. Let us know the outcome of your date spud and Adam...
  6. I just find halfords amusing. I like to look around all the boy racer bits and the car bling. Wounder if it would make my land rover look cool. See if I can recover some lost youth and go to a cruise with all the flashing lights and big alloys. Then I remember how old I am and go looking for what tools are on offer. Oh and I've noticed that they are the easiest place to steal from. Not that I've ever done it but seen plenty of kids opening the cabinets and fingering some stereo or hand tool away. Went looking for some torx sockets a while ago as it was Sunday an I didn't have any big enough for the cylinder head. Asked as I couldn't see any and the lad said there was suppose to be one left..... Bet there wasn't.
  7. On a side track note from not doing a cap up properly. I've fitted a few replacement stihl fuel caps before and they don't sit right. I real bugger to tighten and pull off....
  8. Even better if you walk over it and slip around the place. Especially on a nice workshop smooth floor that was laid with latex self levelling compound. Makes a great show. I've never done that.......
  9. Alvin. Did you remove any of the oiling gear when stripping it down? Got a hilux to sort tomorrow. It ran dry due to a huge leak in the power steering box and the steering pump went dry. Now it's grinding like nuts when turning the wheel so new pump to fit and the front wheels are rubbing when on full lock so a bit of adjustment needed there. Oh and adjusting any bump stops isn't really an option see picture below as to why. Although it has been fixed since the picture it's jacked right off the deck and got huge wheels on it. To be honest I actually don't like it the way it is and it's a hinderence IMO but then its not my truck. (Sorry dave)

    Tuning a saw

I had almost the same start as gardenkit. Studied for 4 years on agri machinery and mechanisation. Then moved on from there to study further. For some stupid reason that I can't remember I turned down an apprenticeship with jd. Until a few years ago I was rubbish on 2 strokes. Best thing I found before I found arbtalk is the library I picked up a lot if books on 2 strokes and started from there. Then I found arbtalk and all is sweat. Spuds thread should give you enough reading for a while.
  11. All hail spud. All hail spud. Ah sod it.
  12. It's not petrol fumes I'm afraid. Normally a good session in front of the white spirit filled ultrasonic cleaner does the trick. Spud is it candle lit dinner or are you going a bit old school and just getting him drunk first.
  13. Top notch reply. By the way it's not difficult to be better looking than spud.:lol: Only joking spud. (I think your gourgous
  14. Hahahahahaahahaha the good old Normans of halfords. Just used to love asking at the desk for a part and they could only bring it up with the reg number of the car. Used to have fun saying its for a quad or tractor. I stopped using there parts desk as they just get it from partco and add there cost to it. Went in for a battery the other week. Asked if I needed help, said I'm looking for a large battery with the pos and negative the wrong way round......got a funny look and shown a battery, said it was wrong as the terminal were the right way round and not the way I needed them. Think he gave up as he said he could check on the computer for me. .
  15. After a bad first day back working again its nice to put a smile on my face again with this thread. Must be the new year blues. Top blokes, top sense of humour.
  16. Changed the wheel over for the new tyre today and all is good. Need to get a whole new wheel.
  17.:lol: Perfect. That's given me the chuckles.
  18. Oh yeah spud. An offer of talking just as you are going to bed.:lol: Now I am worried. And I thought gardenkit was up to something funny :lol:
  19. You will find thousands of pages of info about it online. To be honest it depends on the chain. If they need a bench grinder or if they are just shot and need new chain. If you can get someone to look at them and let you know if you can hand sharpen them do so.
  20. Will do it again tomorrow while changing wheel. I've checked most of the obvious things. The feedback is very low as its only apparent when doing walking speed. Hey ho land rovers.
  21. I havnt spent any cold days under mine. Pick and choose the days. Although a do have a bit of a new problem arising. I'm getting some feedback from wheels. The steering wheels will move left and right ever so slightly at low speed. Like its on train track sleepers. Checked everything on it and all is fine, wheel bearings, bushes, rubbers, ball joints, steering box. I do have a nearly bald tyre on one side so its getting changed for new. See if it sorts the problem. Started after I hit a pothole and it blew the front drivers side tyre, changed it for the spare that is nearly bald and its done it since then. So changing it back tomorrow to see if its anything to do with the wheel.
  22. Damn that was quick. Was about to point out it could be a missing plug issue that has been stated already. You need a new bung.
  23. I've been looking at the further ahead forecast for ages now and it keeps saying its going to get colder. They just move the temp along with the days. Guess no snow this year then. Where's peckerwoo when you need him??
  24. Sorry to hear it. Ifor trailers cost a bomb. A location would be nice.
