  1. Agree. Seen the husky that was on the bench thread.... Had another in earlier that has never been cleaned, even the air filter was bogged up.... I use a paint brush with petrol to penetrate the sap and crud. Then use a clean brush on the chain cover, and other removable parts. When getting in deep I will use a petrol brush and a good blast from a compressor. Then ensure needle bearing is greased and the saw is dry before re assembly.

  3. Ok. Fuel filter. Air filter, spark plug. A check of most parts on it. Clutch, brake drum, bar dress, chain sharpen and inspection. Check all plastics are in good nick. No cracks in casings plastics. While looking at the drum remove it and check oiler worm drive and pump is good. Check the oil pump also works. Clean out the oil tank and change the oil tank filter. Other than that a REALLY good clean and check everything visual that's possible.
  4. Is there anywhere that sells bulk stihl fuel tank filters?? Fed up with only being able to get one at a time or having to wait for parts. And really don't want to pay 3 quid a time.... Is it just me being tight fisted???

  7. Ok. So reading this its sounds like its not running up unless its warmed up a bit, sound like excessive fuel on high. Not burning the excess until its up to temp. Try the high screw. See if its set right. Could try leaning it off a bit.

  9. From what I have figured out that is where the concentration is going. Similar mods to the 200 saws. As for porting I havnt got a clue. Or how far it could go. The 200 didn't leave much for porting and I'm unsure if the 201 has anything in it.

  11. I've heard of them. And just looked into the website I've just figured out who they are. I know a bloke who used to work for them. As far as I can make out they are a good company. There is a few issues with the bloke I know (or used to know) but that's a matter I won't disclose on arbtalk. But the company are good.
  12. Up to you what cylinder you want to use I suppose. The pistons are fantastic and I fitted one to a not so cheap but cheap pot to a 026 and its works faultlessly for a year do far.
  13. There are a few mods the Americans are doing. Been reading about a few yet havnt actually done them. But then the USA saws are different to ours.
  14. Just do a search for meteor 066 piston. There are a few on there but this was the first one I came accros.
  15. The zama and Walbro carb bits turned up today. Can't wait to use them. On another note came one today and cold hear the sounds of a very unhealthy chainsaw trying to cut timber. Looked out The back and two doors down was trying to cut some with his stihl ms290. Not cutting through and could see him trying to force it. So a quick shout over the fence and asked if he would like it sharpened. So turns out he works for oven dens. (A ground works firm that do everything to do with earth moving. A big company down this way) anyway they have ventured into grounds maintance and landscaping. This saw was one of there's. so a sharp saw returned and aparantly a few more coming my way. Could be a nice little earner if I get them. here's to hoping.

  18. Yes I did. But by the sounds of the op and asking what a impulse line was I was guessing that he wasn't mechanically minded to saws. So its easier to just say by the crank than to fill a post with lots of tech info that can confuse a person. Albeit its not that confusing but to a non minded person it is. Short and sweet. If they wanted to know more about impulse lines then they can ask:thumbup: Plus by treequip typing it out I didn't have to. Lazy I am...

  20. Behind the carb is a pipe. Goes from the cylinder to the carb, provides an impulse driven by the crank. I think of it as a fuel pump. Puffs air into carb moving fuel...... Makes sense to me anyway. :lol: Best get it tested. Not sure what tech on here is closest to you.
  21. Ok. So without comp testing its either. Worn out pot and piston. Or a lack of fuel. My first step would be comp test it. Then clean out carb and air filter. Then fuel system.
  22. Yep saw story here I'm afraid. But one thing is it does gain a lot of brownies points when you do take a day and night off and treat her out. Quality time together. All work and o play will effect you big time. Just take time off and be together, we have movie nights of nothing but us two together.

    Laugh like hell....... Oh right sorry, swear under my breath and see what the damage is and how to repair it. Pics always help have a good laugh tho.

  25. IME its better to repair properly when hyd pipes are involved. Put the job aside and fix it properly. IMO.
