  1. Maximum recommended length is 18" irrelevant of whether you can get a longer bar to fit.

    Efco 162!!!

....and you forgot to mention the Efco is around half the price of the Stihl. Two saws for near enough the price of one Stihl- and two lots of warranty for the combined life span of one Stihl. Efco even admit their top handle is not as good as the Stihl, but are savvy enough to charge nowhere near the Stihls price and understand there is a market for newly qulified climbers who need to earn some money before they can upgrade to the Stihl, or experienced climbers who need a back-up saw.
  3. The WHOLE starter assembly ready to simply bolt straight on is only £25 plus vat, so well worth doing IMO. Will be even cheaper if you just want components for it. Part number is you want one is:50060110.

    Efco 162!!!

I have been an Efco dealer for nearly 20 years and have sold Efco products alongside Stihl and Husqvarna. I sell ten Efco products for every one Stihl and I have less problems with the Efco product. I keep Stihl because a lot of my customers or blinkered into believing they should entertain nothing else. What people need to realise that not one manufacturer in this industry produces a complete range of product to cover all uses which are the best in every category. Historically Stihl started producing professional grade products and over the years have produced de-specced, poorer quality machinery for the homeowner, domestic or farmer market, and from my experience the Efco product beats the Stihl offering in these categories hand down- simply because this is the area where Efco cut their teeth. Over the years Efco have produced a range of full professional equipment which is good, but no better than the equivalent Stihl/Husky offering with exception to price. I have fencing contractors and professional gardenders who need a saw as part of their work and traditionally have used the domestic/farmer Stihl/Husky offerings, but after purchasing and using the equivalent Efco product come back to me time and time again to tell me how much more powerful, reliable and forgiving they are. Parts availability I have found to be a better percentage pick than Stihl and I have found Efco to be more helpful. It's a pity that a lot of people will buy a turd if it has Stihl marked on it and won't consider anything less. However there are good and bad in all product ranges and I can assure you the domestic/farmer Efco offering are very, very good indeed.
  5. It is an Efco 140 as previously mentioned. New piston and barrel kit will be £143.25 plus vat. Even without knowing what model it was I wouldn't have thought it was even worth considering in the first place to be honest.

  8. True....just like using a chop saw on a bench.
  9. What model Stihl?
  10. Sadly most major powerhead components are not interchangeable with the MS361. Had it been an MS360, then yes you could salvage a few parts such as chain cover and front handle, etc etc.
  11. The cork and chain are there to assist pouring it, so you don't burn your fingers. The cork is merely "stored" in the neck when not in use.
  12. The official Husqvarna dealer should never have sold it to you on-line without qualifying you first and submitting the relevant registration parperwork to Husky head office. To sell Husky product on-line you need to be already known to the dealer. If the dealer simply shipped one out to you without going through the necessary proceedures then the dealer should be reported to Husqvarna as this is in breach of Huskys on-line policy. If, however, you were known, and qualified by the dealer before your purchase and the dealer has submitted your warranty registration then that is no different to simply buying it face to face from another Husky dealer and the warranty should still be honoured by other authorised dealers.
  13. how small is small????
  14. That's the one- they can perish or tear due to flexing
  15. Yes, sorry you are correct re the telephone number. That number did used to be a dedicated dealer line, but since everything moved from Stonehouse to Newton Aycliffe a couple of years ago it would appear they have adopted that number for the main switchboard. oops!
  16. Fair point. If you purchased it on-line without going through the dealer Husqvarna hand-over and PDI (which was introduced 2 or 3 years ago) then your local dealer may be able to reserve the right not to look at it. However if you purchased it on-line from from an authorised Husky dealer without going through this process since this proceedure was intoduced then the supplying dealer is in breach of the dealer policy anyway. Assuming the pdi/hand-over proceedure was implemented by your supplying dealer in accordance with the latest Husky dealer policy then your local dealer can access all your and the supplying dealers warranty registration detail via the husky dealer password protected website to confirm the warranty is in order and they should still look at it under the terms of their agreement. I suspect your local dealer have their own company policy regarding third party warranty repairs which more often than not is in conflict with the manufacturer.
  17. what's the dealers name?
  18. I am assming this local dealer is an authorised Husqvarna main dealer with a direct account rather than a dealer that just happens to sell a few Husky products via a wholesaler? If you are sure he/she is a main direct account dealer then refer to my post of yesterday and contact Husqvarna direct on 08448-444567. This is the dealer support number, which only dealers have. Explain you have been to this authorised dealer and they have refused to entertain the machine. It is still under warranty, you are the original purchaser and you have your proof of purchase. Too often this happens and delaers like thick need a kick up the back-side. They need to realise it's what they sign up to when then become an authorised agent. They might not like it, but they need to understand people move about the country, so it stands to reason they may get the odd machine in that was purchased out of their catchment area, not to mention dealers in other areas do go out of business, but the warranty period doesn't end when a dealer goes bust! I was a husky main dealer for five years, and I was often receiving calls from Husky customer services asking me to take a look at customers' machines that I hadn't sold, but were still under warranty. I can assure you if I rejected more than the odd one I very soon received a visit from my Husky area manager pointing out I couldn't have my cake and eat it! Unless there's a technicality you are not telling us, then don't give up and persist until you get satisfaction.

    026 help:(

"Using the gunsons Hi gauge with the blue packaging, anything over 135psi but an engine in good all round condition should pull 150psi and anything 160psi - 170 is very good. A decent 026 will pull 150psi with this gauge - my 346xp will pull 170psi A saw should be fueled and cold when testing - the saw can be on fast idle and will need 3-5 pulls to get a measurement - 100psi on the first pull is decent. A saw will run at 120psi but will be pretty crap all round" ...yes I am aware of that, but I was asking the OP.
  20. 50:1 only if you are using a recommended 50:1 dilution ratio oil. Remember it's the oil that recommends the dilution ratio and not the saw. Good quality oil from Stihl and Husqvarna always clearly mark the dilution ratio on the bottle- cheaper generic oils do not generally mark the dilution ratio on the bottle and these are best avoided at all costs.

    026 help:(

What PSI do you consider good OP?
  22. No zips on pockets
  23. Depends whether you want to get mistaken turning up at a customers' house looking like a gyppo in the transit.
  24. Good luck, but bear in mind the 440E series chainsaw is classified as a "landowner" or "farmer" use chainsaw and not a fully professional use machine. If you are a professional chainsaw user and it has been used as such and your dealer is aware of this (via your receipt, or your van or even you admitting as such) then the warranty is reduced to 90 days (or in some cases nil) so even if it's a genuine manufacturing fault, but is over 90 days old then no warranty would apply for a pro-user.
  25. Providing you purchased the saw from a similar authorised Husqvarna dealer, you are the original purchaser and you have your original purchase receipt, then your local authorised Husqvarna dealer has a contractual obligation with Husqvarna to support their products that have been third party purchases (ie from another dealer) All Husqvarna dealers have to agree to do this as part of their dealership agreement and may/will/can be terminated if they do not offer this support. Naturally if the fault is down to "pilot error" on your behalf (poor maintenance, misuse etc) then your dealer will charge you for any repair, although they should inform you of these costs before progressing.
