  1. go for it mate! just dont damage anything or be looking for a claim if anything happens, and keep an eye open for nesting bird at this time of year. I've found that if you ask owners you put them in a position where they have to say no because of the no blame no claim culture, if you say nothing no1's usually any the wiser as to what your doing
  2. is this still on for tomorrow??
  3. that's the 1, roger's the 1 on the far right in the 1st pic with the machine. That bloke can shift round a tree! Real top fella, hardcore pro outfit:thumbup1:
  4. Roger Kidd of Absolute Arborists runs a fastrac and huge pto chipper. Roger's hardcore line clearance and capable of eating spans with that setup, top bloke, legend round here at the age of 30
  5. Will you be bringing it and the new kolibri to the arb show jonesie?? In the market for a new harness soon.
  6. The trick is to put the thicker cleft under tension when you start to run off line. Try and use the best wood that you have available although the old coppice worker would have used almost everything
  7. There spot on, you'l learn so much more by standing on the ground and watching at this stage mate,

  10. the massive slabs of candle wax are good that you can get from hobby or textile suppliers, melt some down and paint it on
  11. Thanks, i'll drop a couple in my bag for you to have a look at. Cheers mate, i think we could get enough of that one in the stream for a couple of cups and bowls, the grain would be like the photo of the cups i think with eyes showing Thanks all for the kind comments, i've been carving for a couple of years using nothing but hand tools, mostly just axe and knives but never had the confidence to show much of my work only making the odd piece for friends, i've got mass's of spoons cups and bowls that i've made over that time o,c,d:thumbup:
  12. I do like the look of that with the device being under the hitch instead of above it.
  13. i have tried a little bit on a scandinavian style serving bowl that i made for a commission, i like on plain grained wood like birch or alder but not on any burr wood as i think it looks lovely just oiled, The berry picking bowl just needs a bit of a tidy up and oiling, i'm going to leave the tool marks showing on that 1 but have only just started to experiment with a tooled finish Thanks for the comments:thumbup:
  14. Had 1 on hire for a couple days was a cracking bit of kit, loved it!! Towed nice through all the country lanes round here. Hammered the brash off 6 good sized beech through it the 1st day and loads of conny and apple the second, it didn't skip a beat once, think littlegreenwoodchopper on here was as equally impressed!
  15. And a Berry picking bowl i made for my little girls
  16. Here's a couple of birch burr kuksas i've made recently and a couple of natural form bowls as well, the 1st is a large hazel burr that i found the 2nd is alder, do like a bit of carving on a rainy day:001_smile:

  19. I'd rather have a walk round with tony on the date above if its ok to tag along?? The croft estate is around a 500yard walk from my back garden it'l be nice to know a little more about some of the fungi that i've seen on my many missions with the dogs around the place We could organise a rec climb for another date, if people are still up for it.
  20. plenty of nice trees by me but might be a bit further than 30miles
  21. Get on it simon:thumbup: there would be a few lads round here that'd be up for a rec climb. If we couldn't get permission to climb at croft i could speak to the estate manager at gatley park and get us on there, its the next estate behind the hill fort at croft
  22. could it be that with using an o rig you are putting your weight slowly on to the hitch so that your full weight isn't setting it quickly?? i've had it where my hitch wont grab straight away when using a pantin to ascend because i was leaning in to the pantin a little bit and keeping the hitch slightly open
  23. can't believe you said that exactly what i was goin 2 say:thumbup:
  24. It's the 1 above the but section, sounds like a fair deal i'll jus run an find my wallet:001_tt2:
