    Badgers

this is very true:thumbup: a badger has no predator above him and there numbers have increased ten fold over the years and are too numerous for there own welfare they do carry the tb virus it is often in small pockets of infected animals and most farms have a badger sett but these badgers travel miles every night foraging digging up allsorts , and if when your out and about in the country you see a badger out and in the daytime there is a chance it is'nt feeling 100% and as setts get overcrowded different badgers get pushed out and they gotta find there own territory which is often on top of another group of badgers and if they are infected with tb then do they pass it on to other badgers or cattle?? who knows defra should be testing all culled animals and there waste. period and stop dilly dallying around and get a solution underway where all animals can be healthy. it is costing the country millions killing all the dairy and beef animals, and with the country's population of people growing, that food isnt in the food chain it is condemmend so therefore you automatically have a short fall of beef and beef products and hence higher prices per kg which like the tb compensation scheme has grown ten fold over the last twenty years the same as the badger population so it is a big big problem all over europe the goverments of the e.u need to sort this out once and for all and get some concrete facts and evidence and act on it
  2. i was thinking about that the bottom brash is quite thick on the edge trees but as you go into the wood the trees are quite bare alot better and i noticed there is hardly any dead trees in the plantations very good equal growth on most trees

  6. yes the owners want it all tidy so they can waik around at there leisure and also there is a nice herd of red deer in the area in total there is 40 acres sitka spruce & jap larch and 19 acres of mixed broadleaf all approx 15yrs old it is all planted on grassland so after the harvester has been in and done some line felling hopefully we can soon tidy up after:thumbup:

  19. hello johny yes you are right i get what you are saying i havent been taking in the big picture of the shortage and price of quality firewood i will put price up to £75 a cube for hardwood now and any new customers £80-£85 a cube:thumbup: cheers andrew
  20. if people are paying this price down hear in devon for winter fuel most private log merchants around here are only charging 1/3 of that per cube of logs i would feel bad taking that sort of money of customers that is my personel issue:thumbup: thanks andrew
  21. hello i had this flyer with a news letter in the post and i was shocked at the price of these logs and are they selling any :001_huh: just wondered what your thoughts are
  22. yes that is very true we have a restricted operators licence and run three trucks 26 tonne truck and a 12 ton truck and a new 3.5ton iveco horsebox the two big trucks are on the o licence but the 3,5 isnt but if we was too put a towbar on and tow a trailer with a gross weight over 750kg we would need a tacho and come under the o licence maintainance scheduele and that is it final in there eyes so bang goes the idea of taking 2 horses in the box and two horses in the trailer and fly up the motorway not having to worry too much about driving hrs and breaks which would save alot of time and money these days vosa now expect all traders too be up to speed with new regulations and laws as a responsible buisness owner but there so many grey areas and loopholes to do with transport these days it is so fli#####ing confusing:confused1:
  23. yes i second all those comments brilliant work very good thread:thumbup:
