  1. Hi & Bienvenue! I use a 14" bar on my MS250 (45cc) & a 20" on the 365 (70cc) the shorter the bar, the quicker the chain speed & engine will spool up quicker so saw more responsive (or thats how I understand it) I would avoid cheap chainsaws on E-bay there are loads of fakes / poorly manufactured saws which are a rip off at best & dangerous at worst. I have a pair of SIP arm sleeves which are very good, see: Chainsaw arm protectors | F R Jones and Son Also handy for hedging in summer as it can get very hot here. Enjoy the forum, there are some very good people here. N
  2. Hi, I think if you have the money, then its better than letting it fester in the bank. What you need to do is speak to people who have had installations & get some recommendations as Im sure there is a variance in quality of installation & quality of solar panels & inverters etc. Last thing you want on a 20 year investment is crap kit installed by fly by night company wound up before you know it, if you know what I mean. Quality & attention to detail is vital. In the meantime a visit to PV Watts may assist your decision as you can enter your variables & do some calcs PVWatts Calculator good luck, we have a small 'off grid' system for backup & thermo tubes for hot water, work a treat but it is a bit sunnier here as we're about 400 miles south of UK. 3. Hi Land Rover Discovery Mk 1 - Im fairly good at welding and dont go over 70 even where I can due to braking distance & there is a Haynes manual for the passengers to read so they know how to help fix it - well sort of. N
  4. Hi Been to Yosemite & seen the El Capitan face, amazing achievement & hats off! N
  5. Hi Check the engine has compression, if low comp then return it - 'not as described' as it could expensive to fix. If you return it, then consider a Husky 135 against the MS181. The 135 has a 40cc engine & quite a bit bigger than 181. just my thoughts N

    Arbtalk problem

OK I have discovered its a bug in a FF add on that removes the tracking code from google searches, Ill see if I can help the devs sort it anyway in case anyone else uses the add on. Amusing as I dont use Google all that often, but shows how intrusive they can be downloaded latest version & installed seems to be OK now N

    Arbtalk problem

Hmm, Seems to be an issue with FF on my MacBook Pro, not malware, I suspect its the FF config, hosts file is fine & my network is too well defended for interference. N
  8. Hi Typical load of cak to try and introduce you to taking supplements which are just worthless junk pharmaceuticals. Eat a good balanced diet, try not to drink too much, exercise and chuck all such crap in the bin. We both live on food we grow ourselves with no chemicals sprayed over them & no daft diet will ever replace it. Im with on GM crops, they should be destroyed at every opportunity, GM is an option that provides large companies with complete control, in the way everything else has gone. N

    Arbtalk problem

Hi One for the admins: If I go to arbtalk.co.uk all is well & works fine, but type in arbtalk.com I get a redirect to Google drive after a delay of about 2 seconds Im not sure if this is intentional or not, it happens even if I deny scripts for arbtalk.com so I suspect its using a metarefresh tag to achieve it. N

    Merci Angleterre

Thanks, People I speak to here really do appreciate the kind thoughts, words & deeds N
  11. Pour la solidarité BBC News - Paris attacks: London landmarks lit in French colours N
  12. Hi Many thanks for posting & another excellent Ace Tree video The cut at 0.46 demonstrates the dangers of top roping but its probably not as close as it looks. N
  13. Hi I really like my 365 X torq, its a bargain at the price as the other option was a 461 for something that would pull a 20" bar. buy it again, no probs. N
  14. Yep, not to mention wine, 1.50 a litre for the 'draught' stuff in a plastic cubi, quite drinkable tho then about 3 euros a bottle will buy something fairly respectable, after that it all starts getting rather good. The cider is fairly good as well! N
  15. Hi Jon, 1.06/1.22 ish euros Diesel/Petrol so about 86p/98p here, so more money to spend on wine during your next visit to France! N
  16. Hi Jon, yes its a lot of cash to outlay yes its worth it if it does the job, really well engineered piece of kit would buy it again for sure. Why not give Led fire a ring and talk to them about what you need? 2900 Lumens should light your way! Joyeuse annee nouvelle! N
  17. Hi Jon, I got a Fenix TK 75 from Led Fire Torches Welcome to LED Fire Torches | ledfiretorches.co.uk, excellent torch very powerful with 4 power levels, they have a good selection and are a good business to deal with, very helpful. Mine takes 4 * 18650 Li-ioN batteries, get some decent ones for long life & a good 'intelligent' charger ie NiteCore as cheap chargers can damage batteries & cause problems. N
  18. Hi I dont think so, but it did make me smile almost as much as Jon does! Id rather have a 341 or a 361 tbh N
  19. Hi, We have a Rayburn connected to a Newark thermal store which has one coil for hot water & an additional coil at the bottom for a thermo tube circuit. It also has a small header tank for volumetric changes. The heat from the Rayburn heats the store & radiators by convection so no electrics required. The thermo tubes run when ever the sun comes out, heating the thermal store & thus hot water in summer. We have to be a bit careful on clear autumn days when Rayburn runs as well as tubes as temps can get rather hot but there is a mixing valve on hot water supply that ensures correctly regulated supply of hot water. It is very good providing; heating, hot water, cooking along with clothes drying when its wet & suits us extremely well. if you need more detail, PM me. N
  20. Happy Christmas all, Had our neighbours around for deserts (a French tradition, I think) with a nice bottle of Sauternes, they are good fun & very welcoming when we first moved here. They really enjoyed our Christmas pudding & brandy butter but then who wouldn't! Just had an invite to our other neighbours for 'aperitifs', probably rather extensive aperos but thankfully its only a 50 metre stagger back! All the best & Happy New Year to all N

    Stihl ms 181c-be

Hi Couldn't agree more, the 'tool-less' chain tension thing dosnt work & the ergo start is annoying at best, why Stihl continue to peddle this rubbish is beyond me although there must be some reason for it. That said the standard 181 is a reasonable saw at its price N
  22. Hi Nice job there, in a very tight spot Well done & good video N
  23. Hi all Another step towards dependence by the EU nanny state - a shining example of a self serving dictatorship thats mucks up anything & everything for everyone else. Self inflicted injury as far as Im concerned, unless proven otherwise. N
