  1. RHS Wisley had much the same experience 30 years ago when they imported some leaf litter from the LA to add to their compost, simazine was the culprit IIRC.
  2. Without a picture of the inside of the barrel and the piston I cannot comment on the bore but the retaining bolt for the exhaust will still hold so a piece of aluminium can be shaped to fill the worn void flush with the exhaust flange, muffler replaced with new or repair or flange fabricated and welded on and good to go.
  3. Same here but we are in the south so a good deal warmer than many here. I have got 2/3 through my 3rd and last bay of firewood so not much left in reserve. First 2 bays refilled and just prevaricating about to filling up the last bay with fresh logs in case it turns cold again and I need access to the dry stuff. I'm glad I took note of whoever here suggested having dividers for bays in the log shed as it is less of a chore than logging everything between now and end of May.
  4. Looks like a rowan to me, not long lived and susceptible to a bacterial disease, fire blight, especially with stem damage like shown.
  5. AV mounts flexing and affecting the throttle linkage? Strange mechanical things can happen; I had a saw on which the choke would only engage if it was held vertical, problem was a loose choke butterfly screw letting the butterfly drop and jam against the carburetor when horizontal.
  6. Did you drive over it or did it land on that handle?
  7. It will be the employer's liability for NI that is the big difference if they do come looking.
  8. My limited experience was they don't look into accounts that look legitimate; tax return completed and paid and not hovering around £12000pa . This despite working for only one firm for 7 years 😉
  9. I would make sure that the oil holes match up with a bar adapter like these as the bar for 14mm studs will have a higher hole
  10. That's interesting, what sort of electric wheel motors?
  11. ...and leaded petrol, I think that had some lubricity.
  12. Not for LR products engines prone to snap cranks within warranty apparently.
  13. I should say I only did one lorry but I was too slow so the lorry driver normally did it, 535-12 IIRC, and he kept the boom extended several feet all the time.
  14. 2m3 bucket on telehandler took 54 trips to load a walking floor bulker, Loading shovel took 17 with tip-on-lip grain bucket
  15. I still think it was not the latter
  16. To avoid an early heart attack? 🙂
  17. predictive text? I know what you mean of course, when I was a teen there was an album people were raving over and I thought it was about some sort of french sounding place place "bayerous", much later when I got to see it did I realise it was bare wires.
  18. s is next to d on the keyboard
  19. After a quick calculation you are right, 5.2 mm is nearest to 13/64 but I only use 2 sizes, plus the little ones for the pole saw which I snap, so as long as 20% of the diameter is above the cutter it's about right whatever file within reason.
  20. I'm the opposite, only remember 7/32 for 3/8 and .404 and 3/16 for .325, as @Stubby I change to 3/16 when a 3/8 chainis half worn but don't sweat if only a 7/32 is to hand.
  21. Doh, a bit like @Doug Tait's fake dog sign then, I cannot remember where I got given it from.
  22. It's something I wish I had done but a young family and being slef employed meant I didn't get the experience, I think it would have benefitted my road riding. As it is I just potter about when the weather is good. Yes Eggs but healing takes longer the older you get.
  23. I wonder if the ebay item will sell. I may offer it to Brooklands, mind the aeroplane side declined my 12V blower from somewhere off a spitfire,
  24. Are old oil cans collectable? I just need to check before breaking the seal on this and pouring it into an old mower It is a pint can
  25. That was traditionally aspen and more recently hybrid poplar, chosen because it doesn't splinter.
