  2. The best standing dead wood for habitat I think is the largest stuff if you have any . Of course it makes the best fire wood , especially if its Elm . Glad you don't see it as quite so neglected as you thought . That was my impression from the pics . I am envious bud . Super project to go on for generations . Never know after about 30 odd generations of your family it could be classed as Ancient Wood land !

  5. I think the problem with using a fly weight saw is you quickly get used to it so when you have to pick up a proper one its not nice

  10. Well done . I leave mine to season in big lumps so people dont steal it . It is tough to split but my hydraulic 20T splitter does do the job . Oh and dont burn it on an open fire or you will need a new carpet !

    Im in the village of Lavant just north of Chichester . Foot of the south downs .
  14. If its running down the outside wall why not put a gutter at roof height like any other building ? or am I missing something ?
  15. I few years back I had a 346 that developed running problems . Spud found the problem . A vent hole had not been made in the carb manifold . There should have been a Vent hole of about 1.5mm in the plastic throat . The only reason it ran was the carb boot was not fitted properly and leaked air ! A QC problem ....
