    Holly tree

Megga bad luck is supposed to befall you if you fell a Holly ! Used for making harps I think . Good tone wood . Seriously though I have burnt it and it seems to season as any other wood . As said , air flow is the key .
  2. My sister in law is out there at the moment . I think she must be leading it .
  3. Plains get me sneezing when chipping in leaf . I am pretty tolerant of most things, oilseed rape etc etc so if she suffers with asthma then yes it could well be .
  4. All the above is fine unless you have got those ant/termite mounds . You really have to slice them off first .
  5. I think your work is outstanding . I think that happens when you enjoy what you do .
  6. Looks very similar to an Alko that I had years ago . That was yellow .
  7. Looking forward to seeing fly Metsa my friend !
  8. Poking horseshit with sticks is the business !

    bad day

Remember to get some yorky bars .....
  10. Think its in decline just from the view of the crown .
  11. Think this one is for Karma to sort .
  12. I don't think £130 to cut a tree down and cart it away is an unreasonable sum (admittedly I haven't seen it though). 4 inches diameter at the root end 7ft tall and a bit of a dead crown . Slice through with a saw pick it up in one hand drag or carry to the truck ( had no chipper ) and chuck it in . 6 , maybe 7 minutes tops from start to finish . You think £130 for that is reasonable then ? ( bearing in mind he did not want it done in the first place ).
  13. Spud has tracked him down . Alfie Smith 5 The Hawthorns Burgess Hill RH158RL .
  14. Thing is he did not want the job done . badly or otherwise .
  15. Going strait to the bank this morning . Opens at 9.00am Cheque was written on the 5th . Today is the 8th . Might be lucky .
  16. Been to the police . They gave me a sticker to put on his door .

    Pain

And look how thin its made you !
  18. Not a clue who he is or were he lives .
  19. By the time I discovered it the bank was shut . I cant be there all the time and if the cheque bounces they could be back all chunky . My Dad is 92 and cant walk without a frame . I don't want him to have to confront them .
  20. There is or was a small tree at the bottom of my 92 year old Dads garden . It started to flush this spring but gave up and died ( like a Robinia but without the thorns ) I discussed it with him several times saying I could remove it if he wanted but we agreed it was not a problem and the birds sit in it before coming to the feeders so we would leave it . Today i find twigs and brash all in the driveway , all along the side of the house and all over the back lawn . Some one has felled it onto the lawn , dragged the trunk out and left all the crap . I look in his cheque book and he has paid " Alfie Smith " £130 for what must have taken all of 8 minutes . My piss is boiling . What worries me more is now they know he is a soft touch they may be back . I have told him not to answer the door to anyone who he does not know .
  21. If it was a Stihl 261 etc I would not want to fall off the pile of knackered clutch bearings !
