  1. Husky man me . 545RX but have also 555RX The 545 is nicer to use as its lighter . The 555 has masses of torque though . Runs 4mm square line with an 18inch swipe no bother .
  2. OK this thread is still running ........As said I have both Husqvarna 545 and 555 . I prefer the 545 as its a bit lighter than the 555 ( no surprise ) but if you need bags of torque the 555 has it in spades . I run " Jet Fit " heads and the 555 will spin 9" tails of 4mm square line ( no guard ) effortlessly .
  3. The chain speed will be faster in fresh air but you will sacrifice some torque when in the cut . Will be fine on the shorter bars but might bog if you lean on it full cut on a longer bar . I only up the gearing on ported saws and then only on the shorter bars .
  4. Isn't that just one of the " limiter pins " to stop excessive movement between the two halves of the powerhead ?
  5. Isn't a proper Devon pastie called a " tiddieoggie " (Spelling ) ?
  6. I live in a rural area and my stove is defra approved ( Burley Hollywell ) There is no visible smoke from the stack once it is up to temp . This was the case also a few years back when it was just an open fire .
  7. I thought a " holding cut " was something you get on your wrist ..............
  8. Great this place innit ?
  9. I could read this morning ....I'm sure I could !
  10. I like a story with a happy ending
  11. Plug should be a light coffee colour ideally . If its black and sooty its running rich ( carb adjustment or wrong mix ratio ) if its grey /white its too lean and running too hot .
  12. Yep . If it has a spark arrestor mesh I would remove it anyway .
  13. See thread " news laws on woodburners "
  14. I run Stihl chain on Huskys when I can get it in .058 gauge . .
  15. Mmmm . If it has good comp then I don't think it is on the way out . Could have been run rich , or with a higher oil to fuel ratio for sometime in the past resulting in the carbon deposits . Might be worth taking off the muffler and cleaning it out . As said use the correct heat rang NGK plug and use modern high quality 2T oil at 50:1 in your mix . To avoid carbon build up in a new machine use an alkalite fuel such as Aspen or Husqvarnas own or Stihls own . Probably too late on this one unless you go to the expense of changing all the rubber components . Also get the carb set up by someone who knows what they are doing .
  16. No . From DM Chainsaws Walberton West Sussex .
  17. Husqvarna 545RX is my weapon of choice .
