  1. probably went back to the office to write up the risk assessment`
  2. I always give mine a tickle so it is cutting better than just " outta the box "
  3. All good kit . There must be someone !
  4. That is for the same reason the top plate drops down as you file back down the slope sooo the rakers need to be 1/5th of the file diameter below the top plate so it will be more as the top plate becomes lower .
  5. Ok . If that works for you its all good . To be honest I have not done a lot of it ( despite what people may think ) . I wanted to try it and when I researched it that was the recommended way .
  6. Also when you get to the dropping down a file size stage its worth taking the gullets out as well with an 020 size file .
  7. No . Stihl GB are just young . ? Don't forget if you square file a full chiz its done from the outside in rather than from the inside out as pr round ground full chiz
  8. I did it successfully with a Robina ( false Acacia ) Felled it and left the stump . It sprouted from the stump with multiple shoots as a coppice would . I selected the thickest , strongest shoot . retained that and periodically removed any others . It became a tree again , almost as large as the one I felled . Had to remove it in the end as I was going to block pave the area .
  9. Done this also . Tight wads we are ! not binning this chain till at least 5 cutters break off ! ?
  10. Nope . Had some racing saw sprockets to play with but no competing .
  11. So , what hedge did you find this in then ratty ?
  12. Been doing that for years if I happen to have the slightly smaller file but its not critical . Certainly not " advanced " ! ?
  13. Grenade . Hand grenade that is . pull the pin , throw , the lever springs out and the count down begins .....
  14. Yep . I have the woodchuck . very similar .
