The air for burning wood should come from above , not up through the embers . wood burns from the top down . That is why wood only stoves don't have a grate .

Complaint about my Wood Burner
Stubby replied to Danny Boy's topic in Log burning stoves and fireplaces
When I had an open fire I could always smell wood smoke out side . Since getting a stove the smell is different . More of a hot metal smell masking the wood smell . Not as pleasant . -

I had a " Quadzilla " (ex rescue with blue flashing leds ) think it was about 550cc . Great fun , never let me down .

I thought Aspen fuel came from the very top of the refinery hence there is less of it and it costs more rather than it being a " reusable byproduct " .
