Well it's bought, sounds and cuts well. I think there's a fuel leak now that it's home and I've had a longer run with it but nothing that can't be fixed. thanks fonzy

Hi, I own the 50cc 346xp and I love it. Been offered the older 46cc version which i'm interested in as a back up. Is there much difference in the two? Cheers f

  10. Tempted but delivery to aberdeenshire is to steep for me

  12. Ive had mine for 6 years, 57 plate no real issues. Both front hubs/bearing changed seems to be very comon fault but other han that its been ok. 60k on the clock. I use it for a lot of towing also.
  13. I do agree, turning the air off just to get embers in the morning is a false economy, poor combustion and little heat output.
  14. All I burn is well seasoned softwood. Since it's so easy to light there's no benefit of having embers in the morning, in fact I open my air vent up to avoid black glass. And as mentioned very little ash with softwood.

    Stuck bolt!

Ring spanner on the bolt with a constant good amount of pressure on it whilst someone else "taps" the end with a hammer. As said heat on the femail threads will help
  16. Thanks. Far more efficient and safer in my opinion. No having to push big rings in with your chest. Note: Copy at your own risk
  17. Some good ideas typed above. I would recommend an energy monitor, this helped me identify what a waste of elec my garage freezer was and it's a visual deterrent to everyone. One large waste is boiling a full kettle for one cup. I also change out my halogen hob for an induction one. I'd also look at the philips low energy bulbs, around £9 a pop but are quite bright and last a very long time. Two schools of thought regarding the water heater. Have it on a timer as it only heats water when required or have it on all the time so it is only using a little energy to keep a stead-ish temp. Again the energy monitor will help determine whats best for you. I have my hot water on (oil water and heating) constantly which works for us. I would suggest checking the temp it heating the water to, 65oC is uncomfortable on the hand. Get a monitor and try a few things. Fonzy

  20. Deepest Aberdeenshire, 750ft above sea level. Thankfully the neighbour came past with his John Deer to clear the road. Fonzy
  21. Thanks for the replies folks. I tried wedging one side of the lifting bar on mine so that it pivots using only one handle, this works for brining the axe down but it won't raise. I have a plan for a better fix which will involve a welded pedal frame. Completely agree that 2 persons on a splitter is a recipe for disaster!
