  1. My advice would be try a foot operated one understanding the risks then decide for yourself. So, has anyone made this mod? Thanks Fonzy
  2. The old Posch i had was foot operated as standard and there's a noticeable difference in the amount split in a day between the foot operated and two hand operated. Also on occasions i find i have to use my chest to help which is not good. Cheers Fonzy.
  3. I guess it's all down to the individual. To avoid this thread going down the line of the wrongs of modifying "safety equipment" thats not what i'm asking. I understand the risks. Thanks Fonzy
  4. LOL I'm physical proof off that not being the case.
  5. Thanks. I plan on having the rollers sitting a bit prouder though. Fonzy
  6. ....adjusted the 2 handled operation on their vertical splitter to something more user friendly? Until recently i had a very old Posch foot operated one leaving both hands free. I found this so much more user friendly and most surprising I still have all fingers and both hands intact after 3 years of use. I have a plan to mod mine to foot operated but it will be a bit trial and error to get it right. Thanks Fonzy
  7. I'll be doing a similar mod to my splitter in the future. My plan it to add 2 rollers to each side of the blade to kick to log open. Some of the new Posch splitters have them. See pic 6 on this page. Spaltaxt 10 Spezial
  8. Exterior Laser Level - Laser Level Hire £35 per week. if you only use it 3 times a year that's good value considering the yearly re-cal will be around the same with not outlay. Fonzy
  9. Spooky! I have just been looking at these also. Very handy time saving accurate piece of kit. I actually got a shot of a building firms topcon for setting up levels for a new shed on saturday. Very simple to use. Down side i guess is a big outlay and requires a re-cal once a year which i think would be around £50 - £100 and yet to find some where local to ABZ but i'm sure there would be someone. If it was out it would be better not having one. I guess it depends on how much you'd use it. I haven't looked but there muss be someone that hires them out? GPH maybe?? Cheers Fonzy.
  10. Someone better let the Scandinavians know as they mainly burn softwood. Douglas fir is a good soft wood fuel for a wood burner. As long as it's less than 25% moisture content of course, same goes for hardwood. There's a big misconception about softwood IMO. Fonzy
  11. Gutted for you buddy. Appreciate you taking the time to posts a warning on here, so thanks. I've seen a few to good to be true deals mainly on gumtree for tractors. They always seemed to be driving a deal though ebay buyer protection but as soon as i firmly say it will work like this, "I come and view I then do instant bank transfer then i take it away" they are not interested. Again thanks for sharing. Fonzy
  12. Sorry the questions for this model, 8 Ton vertical petrol logsplitter Cheers Fonzy
  13. Would you be so kind as to answer a question for me. Is the ram stroke length adjustable? I had a Posch which had a similar bar at the back of the box section which was used to adjust the stroke. Thanks in advance:thumbup: Fonzy
  14. -7 currently. Expecting that to climb a little as the snow clouds roll in. 750 ft above sea level.
  15. Thanks for the replies. I'm thinking it's going to be electric. Just to find the right one now. I liked the fact that I could adjust the ram stroke on the Posch I've been using and the quick cycle time. Cheers Fonzy
  16. I'd appreciate folks thoughts on the above. I'm after a new table splitter and was just thinking petrol as thats what I've always had. I curious of the electric driven ones as I'm usually beside a power point anyway. I was thinking the electric driven might be cheeper to run?? Cheers Fonzy
  17. 90% of my wood is Stika all under 20% m.c. and absolutely no complaints. Agree with the comments above, so much easier to split and quicker to dry. I also find next to nothing left ash wise as opposed to hardwood. I do stick hard wood in at night though to keep her going till morning.
  18. I think your issue there is burning treated wood rather than softwood. I think all wood burner manufactures warn against burning treated wood. All I burn is less than 20% MC softwood which gets turned down at night with no issues. As said the key is regular maintenance.

    Aldi saw

But then where do you stop? Circular saws? Strimmers? Nail guns? Hand saws? Sharp screw drivers? I don't think that there should be restrictions on who can sell any equipment. I also don't think there should be restrictions on top handled saws. But thats just my opinion.
  20. There are work looking at IMO Work trousers from engelbert strauss
  21. My dads had done 18.5kw at 2000hrs tonight
  22. Thanks again for the replys. I've managed to get a stihl piston stop for £2.70 delivered. I did try the tap without it but the crank turns to easily. Thanks
  23. Spot on gentle people Very muchlay appreciated
  24. Howdy, Looking for the best way to remove the clutch on the 136. I'm guessing I need a piston stop but the ones I've seen are metal and look a bit savage. Basicaly I'm after replacing sprocket bar and chain. I'm also question if it's worth it depending on cost. Thanks
