  2. yeah desperate ax men is about it! this series is cruel bad though, im expecting rygaard logging to be up for an oscar or something! i can see that for your average joe working in an office or a nice safe job that it can be interesting but when your immersed in that work you see the bullshit coming, possibly as cops are bitching about csi on a forum somewhere!
  3. with the love of god it wont be dramatised bull like ax men, i watch it but its brain rot, nearly like desperate housewives its so full of drama
  4. im in the process of making my splitter independant, im looking at a donkey engine and pump off a readymix truck.... has anyone any other words of wisdom? valid point leave it that it can be used by the tractor as a back up

  10. well over here theres a lot of people at it, the better half does shift work and ive alot of free time, its more of a sideline for me than anything, what type of timber do you use? im thinking sitka spruce...
  11. yeah, apart from leavin a pickup out of gear on a hill and wondering why it wound up in the ditch.... ax men is like a very very low budget action film, dont listen and just watch it for the machinery..... id say you really work for your moiney in alaska or canada
  12. thanks for replys, im still trying to visualise the scooter idea! ive seen the splitter kindling maker before, it probably works grand, im thinking of something a little faster and independant... ive boughtan old cable winch, cut it to a power pack now so im going to build a kindling splitter on one side and log splitter on the other side...
  13. sea doo have that as there skis give trouble with carbon build up on valves otherwise...
  14. watch last season of ax men, a lad totals a brand new 660 and doesnt get sacked. lemar lake logging have to be good! plus hundreds of machines including giant yarders!
  15. hi, has anyone tryed to build there own? i appreciate the automatic machines are the ideal solution, but my budget doesnt stretch to that! im thinking about building a vertical splitter with an x or maybe * head coming down to a plate for holding the logs.... thanks Dermot
  16. ive a km130r with strimmer, blower, scrub cutter and pole pruner attachments, i use the green mix and have never had bother.... watch the mouldings around the engine when starting, i badly cut and scarred 4 fingers starting it once and another lad who used it done 2 fingers, sharp vent holes on mine!

  21. i found this website when i was looking for a winch, my question is this how did you get into the business and is everyone here qualified? i wouldnt be brazen enough to call myself any sort of arbourist or tree surgeon as i havent opened a book or gained any qualifications.. ive experience in rock climbing and gained experience with machinery. i limb, fell, plant and thin trees as a contractor... the reputable companies i contacted are happy to get people with chainsaw licences when workis there but theres not much technical stuff here... i could only do a distance course as the only college in ireland that does arb evening courses is impractical for me...
  22. i think if you usethe search facility on the forums its the best way to find out as people ask similar questions all the time, including me... your looking for a very high crane there, the importer of vahva jussi is quick to quote if you ask him....
  23. try ireland? some cheap trucks, 50 50 weather there good or not but the government fuked up taxing them so the market is flodded
