  3. An American lad did just that at our firm last week , he got a start and the company is going to sort out his visa to .. I want to go to Canada preferably with a sponsorship but if not I'll be going anyway ..
  4. If your that keen why don't you just come over to the country you want and chap some doors ( which of course you have already googled ) you get 90 days here to find work , ample time ? PS . Be ready to get going , bring your harness , will impress employers ..
  5. Yes I would think you would need to downsize the split tail to . Don't think it would feel right at all though ...
  6. Was at the Glenfiddich distillery fairly recently , this could be yours for a mere £20,000
  7. 1 in 3 people will have a mental health issue at some point in their life . You are definitely not alone !
  8. I don't think it's feasible for any commercial climber to use them out here , maybe a simple matter of working with no groundies a lot , different tree characteristics , amount of trees climbed per day etc none the less stopper knots get jammed in crotches and you can't pull your line through , very simple ...
  9. Yes your right the only sure way would have been as you mentioned , was only a guesstimate ..was way short though
  10. Each to their own , normally you would just re-anchor ..
  11. Far far too frustrating getting caught up all the time , tried and total waste of time . Never seen them used and for good reason ( on main line ) NOT side strop !!
  12. don't get me started on stopper knots though
  13. 20 years climbing what ? Back door birches ? Cherries ? I don't know . Yes I fly down sas style , glaze all my hitch chord and burn my hands at the same time , what a laugh this climbing game is ..
  14. A lot of people on here don't know what it's like commercial climbing every day though ..
  15. Was close to coming off the end of my rope couple months back . Using my colleagues rope , identical to mine but he had shortened it . I shouted down if I had enough length to make it down , he said yes . Whilst descending I just happened to look over my shoulder for some reason and noticed I had about 12 inches left on the tail . Would have been very very serious outcome !!
  16. Haven't built a sled but if you can get a hold of the 'heavy horse manual' it shows you the linkage used to attach the shafts to the sled , just a short chain link connection that let's the sled ride into the back of the shafts when the horse stops , sort of Indian style I believe
  17. Heard on the radio there New York to get their worst snow storm ever !! Baton down the hatches lads ...
  18. They are just quicker in some instances and make life easier NOT safer imo ..I personally am not comfortable in them . Big trees with large crowns no high anchor they are a godsend for most climbers I would think .
  19. I'm sure what the company are doing is highly illegal and by giving the employees a disciplinary hearing trying to instill a fear factor but in actual fact digging a bigger hole for themselves . As some of the lads said do a bit of HSE homework , stand up to them and they will fold like a deck of cards when they realise you are no idiots !!
  20. Relying on good groundsmen also when swinging a big limb like that towards you , limb MUST be dropped . Sweet ..
  21. One of the easiest jobs in tree surgery . That or a 35m poplar removal take your pick ??? Getting of walls , old buildings that's another matter
  22. Ivy removal doesn't take long even horrific ones . Might be a tree worth keeping I don't know :-)
