    l200 truck

Used L200 's for many years. Older models were the best, much more practical, hard floors and better turning circle, proper work vehicles, now they have poncy carpets, which are really impractical when your boots are covered in thick mud... We have a 4 work and a 4 life LWB, about 3-5 years old, got rid of a warrior as it was too thirsty and like driving a tank! nothing major ever goes wrong, on them, I think they are reliable and nice to drive/work with. Would love a tipping one for logs!
  2. 2 alight every day, 1 all day and sometimes 2 in evening during summer, but 2 all day anytime soon, otherwise no hot water or hot food, gets a bit hot in summer, but had forgotten what one of those was up here until this year! (we burn mostly the waste wood from firewood processing).
  3. Harder on me too, we do it all by hand except the processing!
  4. Had this one for donkeys years, still reliable, and gets plenty of use on splitting the larger log rings.
  5. Agree, last year we ran out of hardwood after christmas, I could not believe how much faster and easier just softwood deliveries was, got up to 15 metres on a good day, as opposed to 12 m3 with mixed loads/softwood loads, Everything is Hard about Hardwood from felling to processing and loading and stacking!
  6. That is a lot of extra dry firewood someone has to find, hope you're all ready for the extra business! I'm on 9 metres a day, could be doing more, but I am pacing myself for a long winter, (felt like summer today!)
  7. Sales of wood burning stoves are still increasing for 4-5th year in a row, friend who has a stove shop says they are crazy busy, so watch out, think it is going to be another very busy winter!
  8. 11th Sept, going crazy (log sales) not me, those who know me may disagree and I'm not over the last one yet. .
  9. This is helpfull, tried to get ours insured once through the business insurance and they were not able to do it (Bryant Keswick). Although I seem to remember NFU would only insure us if they could insure Everything, But will call them again, nothing like peace of mind !
  10. Northwoods running free 1st Aid courses in North East, they have just done one this week! : Call 01670 513292 to discuss Northwoods, Unit 9 Sycamore Business Park, Dishforth Road, Copt Hewick, Ripon, North Yorkshire HG4 5DF Telephone: 01670 513292 Northwoods [email protected] Hope this helps - Steph
  11. ''We could discuss why this unsuitability for stokers is the case, I guess most will realise that arb arisings contain leaves and needles that push up the moisture content but there are other things about them that need to be considered when used in a chip stoker. '' I'm no scientific expert, but a local forest manager told me large power stations that burn wood do not accept green waste: eg: needles and leaves due to toxins released during burning that are not nice! I presumed this was why brash that contained leaves/needles was the reason no good for burning on boilers.
  12. So I see, sorry missunderstanding, but still there is a general public conception, that our 'arb arisings' are of no value, and we will give them away. Agree with your point though; most arb chippers do not produce a chip suitable for boilers, or separate green and branch wood, I know we certainly dont!
  13. Thanks jon, good to know I'm not talking to myself on this subject
  14. Excuse me, not being rude but what planet are you are you on, these boilers consume a LOT of wood and it certainly is not free where I come from, it is a hard earned product, with a value!! I am finding the attitude of the boiler salespeople I meet is all about £££'s on yor feed in tarrif and no mention of the fuel needed. I have supplied a few owners, so seen 1st hand the problems. UK timber supplies are under huge strain and over next few years if more boilers are installed it will become more difficult to source your fuel locally, and it will not be free..
  15. Find out how easy it will be for you to sustain a dry supply of 25+ tonnes of firewood a year for next 10-20? years before you worry about anything else, for the boiler, dont know much about chips, but look at how easy it is to get a reliable source. dont forget if its you doing the cutting etc what happens if you get injury or sick? you need a massive store of dry wood to keep a boiler going, and it is not getting any cheaper to come by.
  16. We have L200's, the largest ladders too wide to fit in back, but have to be turned round with the ends of legs over cab, smaller pair strapped on top!
  17. Thanks for the good work on the old 260, as said before it runs better than the new one,( which has been left at the back of workshop now since the old one has been sorted out.) Tim still climbing, and yes, Matt is one of the best!
  18. Yes, I think he bought one back after a trip up here to Northumberland. He's our son'! Hope it was the 260, I'm pretty sure it was..
  19. Not trawled through this thread, but have a newish (less than 1 year old 261,)very dissapointing, clutch problems etc, given us some grief; old model circa 2003 is another matter, still better than anything else we have of similar size and running like new after 'spud' had his hands on it earlier this year! we would not buy another one..
  20. We have 2 sets of 3 legged ones, revolutionised our hedgecutting! I think it is the medium and large set we have, very stable to work from, feels much better than a normal ladder.
  21. £600 delivered, no less work cutting and delivering if its green or dry, in fact more weight to haul...
  22. Point taken son! I've read the review, they were bought as they were the most comfortable boots in the shop, but will be taking them back and getting a refund.. are the klima airs wide fitting, who would you order from?
  23. Any one bought these boots recently? Partner bought a pair only 3 weeks old and they have split at toes along seam, were they a dud batch / do we risk replacing, or get something different when we take them back? they were bought as what he had was killing his feet (Meindl) and these boots seemed most comfortable in shop - he has worn almost every make over the years and still not found anything comfortable, and has never seen a pair of boots do this before!
