  1. My sites and the others I work with/on are all super chill, no egos just all of us working in unison to get the job done safely and quickly. Quicker it's done the quicker you can go home. I can see how the climber could be distracted but the groundies are all climbers so usually it's two way convos about whats happening up top and on the ground. Love the com
  2. Currently on 10r but am increasingly working with a crew on the Stihl pro coms. As many have said previously once you have worked with Comms it seems an insurmountable task to operate with out them on so many tasks. Has any one got a mesh Sena that can operate with the older senas and the recent stihl pro coms?
  3. I did try a 500km cycle ride to get away from them but had to pull out after 200km. All of my family had had colds and it was clear I was coming down with it. At 1am, shivering, in the middle of nowhere I saw a lorry distribution yard, lights were on in the canteen area. I let my self in and sat there for a number of hours shivering before back tracking 10 miles to catch a train. The first two trains cancelled, more shivering ensued. First cycle of many I have done this year that I have had to bail out of.
  4. I quite liked Corbyn. Couldn't bring myself to vote labour this time around.
  5. It's a nice peaceful start to the day for sure.
  6. Do you wear barefoot shoes when not doing tree work? I found the Vivo barefoot shoes are the same shape as my foot and therefore are very comfortable.
  7. My eldests birthday today, another excuse for a day with the wife's family- 😿
  8. You thinking Corbyn?
  9. Wordle 1,290 3/6 🟩⬛🟨🟨🟨 🟩🟩🟨🟨⬛ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  10. Don't watch the telly and you won't have that problem, I suggest replacing it with three young children and a barny with the wife, good times!
  11. My long reach trimmer is doing the fluctuating revs type thing, sound similar. The chainsaw, apart from not oiling from new, repaired under warranty, has been good. Got the long reach pole saw as well and that has been faultless apart from being supplied with the wrong bar. With the hedge trimmer I was assuming the trigger was at fault although I have made no attempt at investigation yet.
  12. Easy now. Had 11 of the wife's family round mine. i struggled a bit with the intensity of it, had to self medicated with some alcohol. Yes agree with a lot here on too much crap being purchased. Last year it was just me wife and kids, that's how I like it. But seeing as though we rent a big place I suspect they will continue to descend on us. But kids up stockings open. Breakfast then we all go out and do all the farm work including walking around checking live stock. Back for a couple more pressies then lunch, remaining pressies and Christmas film.
  13. Got a pair of the top of the line husky boots on account of me being a tight bstrd after seeing the prices of boots these days. Had the Andrew cervino wood s3 which I found had the perfect amount of room in the tow box but something around the back of the ankle was very very uncomfortable on anything other than flat ground, something others have also experienced. The huskys are okay, little tall for my liking and now they are leaking after hardly anytime at all so now on the look out for another pair. Had the fit well chops, I seem to remember them being okay but that could be nostalgia, certainly nostalgic about the price I paid as I got them when they first came out, price has risen somewhat since then!👀 What boots may come up a little wider in the toe box, big to is the longest and as, with most footwear, it gets pushed across as the shoes are a pointy shape, unlike my feet!
  14. When I first started out on my own I purchased a stein 2001 bollard on account of being able to get a lot of the slack out of the system compared to the flying capstan, and the ease of use. Also 60m of 14mm line. I have done a lot with that kit. I have used gcrs in the past, from the ground, and defo they have there place and I would love to have one but for me I wouldnt get much use out of it.
  15. Well since the in-laws arrived yesterday, Christmas eve, I found myself a few jobs to be getting on with: Britain's tractors X 4, the cast hitch snaps of very easily so you can not tow a trailer so drilled a hole and cut a bit rivet to the desired length and glued in place, my middle son was made up with that! Replaced a fluorescent tube in the garage for an led unit, hopefully won't need the workshop lamp anymore when sharpening in the vice. Porch light got a replacement bulb. Outside the kitchen got a replacement led floodlight. Kitchen had a replacement gland to stop tap leaking. All things that had been on the to do list for an extended period of time!
  16. Got 11 in laws here, feeling a lot better since starting on the beer! Cheers all 🍻
  17. Using a 2005 machine at present, I have replaced a lot of parts, some obsolete and some are quite costly to replace when they break.
  18. Yes quite, 70 blokes all from within 25mile radius and that's only the ones they were able to identify. His daughter also thinks it may have happened to her. I just can not get my head around this. Today on radio 4 a Frenchman saying all men can be rapists, well yeah sure but I can't see how you could arrive at this gaff remove your clothes in another room, wash your hands with warm water before seeing the maid unconscious, only a select few who could get hard, who fantasize about such a situation.
  19. Yes presumably chippers get a lot of heavy sudden loads on top of the conditions stated above, I would assume generators are generally running at set revs and it is all a bit more gentle.
  20. Oregon used to to make blades one for one size spindle and then another blade with a bigger hole, for Stihl brushcutters. They then went to one size but supplied an adapter ring and thus made it simpler. The only problem is that soon as you hit anying sizeable the adapter missing forms and then you have a vibrating mess because the blade is no longer central. I tried a couple and gave up. Prior to the change I had used the blades for a number of years. Now i use genuine Stihl ones.
  21. Established all the work while the truck was shiny, that's the part where I am missing out.
  22. Enquired about a new chipper today and was offered the higher hp petrol engine or a lower power diesel. Now having had many older 35hp Kubota engines they are tried and tested. Looking at HP isn't the whole picture as torque specs may be more helpful for comparison. I am inclined to go with the diesel with the hope to twerk the power back up at a later date. I have used a couple of machines with the brigs and Stratton and have been impressed but I wonder how long they will last. Will they make over 2000 hours? Has anyone had experience with higher hours on a petrol chipper engine?
  23. For future reference dig bits were of no help in this instance as they did not supply the parts untill after this machine was manufactured. Ended up at an engineering firm.
  24. In feed, ie roller pull, may be improved.
