  1. Steve ain't paying you enough mate. What makes me laugh more than people getting pulled up for naughty words, is clinging onto it like a whingy toddler. Take your licks, man up and move on. Edit: Toxic masculinity. "Man up" is so medieval.
  2. Cheers Matty, what was it particularly that made them bad for spiking?
  3. Awesome, that's plenty of endorsement right there. Cheers boys!
  4. Sorry for the banal "What should I buy?" topic. I'm aware that Bolam is going to post a picture of fetish wear, but if any grown ups have a suggestion I'd like to hear it. Looking for a pair of saw boots with a decent chunky heel for spikes that would also be not too clunky for normal climbing. I like the look of the Andrew Cervinos as the built in for loop means I could do away with the tatty floop that lives on my boots. I've heard a few times that they're not the best for spiking in though. Any recommendations or experiences?
  5. If you're going for a 50cc saw its worth considering running a narrow kerf chain. I run Oregon 95TXL on my ported 357 and its definitely quicker than the standard .325 chain.
  6. Yup, or a retractable lanyard so when you push the chog off it returns. I try to avoid chogging on big timber these days though
  7. I've actually seen a thin rod used for the same purpose. Cut most of the way through, insert rod beyond bar and carry on. Also helps roll the slice off and you don't have to spike round to the nose of your bar for the second wedge
  8. Also the video that rough hewn posted appeared to be someone imitating a pro user. The upward disc only cut 1/3 of the log. An amateur move proving nothing whatsoever.
  9. There's no point in arguing with dogmatic people. I've used both the 462 and the 500i alongside other contributors to this thread and the 500i was very impressive. To compare it to a much larger saw is pointless.
  10. Credit goes to @Rob D at chainsawbars.co.uk Nice to see a company going a bit extra for the user
  11. ? Give Si at @Beechwood Trees a ring if Cov isn't too far from you. Your HGV ticket would be useful there I'm sure.
  12. https://youtu.be/RbnjlQGmFIQ You'll need a tach.
  13. Hmm, looks like you've taken one person's inaccurate interpretation of what was basically some pretty shit punnage and ran with it. The "chicken shit" part was charming though.
  14. Taking it a meter below previous points will drastically reduce the number of wounds for the tree to compartmentalize
  15. It's because you're a thick jock twat mate ?
  16. Give @Beechwood Trees a ring. They cover that area and are arb approved.
  17. I'll sometimes do it if I feel the kerf is going to close on the saw. You can feel it pinching the bar better and pull the saw out better than if you're dogged in.
  18. What does the manual say? I'd go with that. I've never seen any manual suggesting running a saw on tick over for any extended time. Sounds like something the bloke down the pub might suggest. People should be cynical about where they take their advice from.
  19. On neutrally weighted sections of timber perhaps, but for swinging limbs and falling tops you'd be insane to sacrifice control just for a few less wedges in the final rake up!
  20. My Y reg B2500 is a cracking little truck.
  21. Yeah, I lied about the subsidence too. That orrible thing was blocking the view of my best work.
