  1. This has to be trolling, surely? @Steve Bullman
  2. Okay, I've watched Captain Charisma chat about anchor points for ten minutes. I hope it was worth it. I think that system is a crap idea for a couple of reasons. The first being that a small ring looks like it could easily pass through a large crab/maillon. Fair enough you'd end up with it cinched to the branch but it's not ideal. Secondly with the maillon and the small ring, it's quite possible with regular unloading and loading of the line as we do when we climb, the dmm ring could potentially rotate the gate open. I'd definitely not trust it at finger tight. Remember that remote anchors can't always be inspected throughout the climb. They need to be fail safe. I typically use an alpine with a pinto or a adjustable cambium saver knot blocked. If I need to advance my tie in from the throwline ill usually just ddrt to where I need to be and set my final anchor from there.
  3. I remember seeing that setup on insta and thinking it looked pretty dodgy to me. There might well be something I'm missing though.
  4. I'm not sure I understand the application here. Could you post a link to the video you saw? There are plenty of options for setting retrievable or non retrievable canopy anchors
  5. Anyone remember "Jacamo's" homemade spikes?
  6. I've got the Cross Pro and I like it. Fits a 20m and 45m rope, throwline cube, axe and wedges, a few climbing systems and srt kit. Spikes and lid are kept seperate. I've had mine a couple of years and have broken 1 buckle recently but apart from that it's holding up well. Only downside is if you've got a few small jobs to go to its a pain packing and unpacking your kit.
  7. Agreed. Pointless listing a species as endangered and not protecting them. There must be some reason.
  8. Thanks for your reply. I can say for sure that a crane won't be happening, but moving the log sounds like the better option. I'll get in touch with the BKA when I go to inspect it.
  9. Cheers for your answers lads. I've kept bees before in a previous job but we're going back over a decade. If it was a swarm it would be somewhat easier, I remember how to move them. Just wondering how I might relocate them should the tree need to come down. I'd prefer not to fell a stem full of bees if I can avoid it. When I come to look at the tree I'll get in touch with the local BKA to see if they can help.
  10. I've been asked by a company I contract to to help out with inspecting a large oak. The tree is in proximity to houses and has multiple decay pockets, one of which is home to bees. To ascertain the depth of decay could mean disturbing them. Anyone know the law regarding this, and if the tree needs removing how to go about relocating them?
  11. I want a refund for the 3 saws that you apparently haven't ported for me.
  12. I've asked you for the facts, and you don't seem able/willing to explain them to me.
  13. 🤣🤣 kindly explain how I'm bullying anyone?
  14. Don't think anyone feels threatened except perhaps you? Criticising the work of somebody with a reputation like Steve isn't the the behavior of a secure person.
  15. Do you care to expand further? Evasive answers aren't really helping your cause.
  16. @frammo I don't think anyone will mind a further derail for you to back up what you're saying. So far all you've claimed is that Spud doesn't "port" saws, so please explain in your opinion what exactly constitutes a "ported" saw. Otherwise all you've done is exactly what this thread is about.
  17. I was just having a little dig at Mick 🤣 Unfortunately he's choosing not to dignify me with an answer
  18. But then you had some very argumentative characters. Le Sanglier and Mountain Man to name a couple!!
  19. You're pretty confident
  20. Funniest comment I've read in a while.
Sound bloke, met us there with posh sausage rolls for me and the passenger. Much appreciated!

  21. I think the best chance of that happening would be for yourself and a select few to remove yourself from the forum.
  22. Because that would be the behaviour of a secure, rational person. Not that of a serial Internet troll.
  23. More people from non arb related backgrounds than any of those grouped together!
  24. The Chinese are really popular recently.
