  1. Almost as annoying as the "doesn't matter if my kit hasn't seen a speck of sawdust as long as I can squeeze my tits into a tight t shirt" bunch
  2. All that American "hoo-ra" stuff can jog on
  3. I'm a freelance climber based in Rugby. Tell me a bit more about your business?
  4. Can't stand them. Not comfy in the ground or on spikes. The soles came away after 2 months so the boots were replaced under warranty. Might just be me though. Boots are a gamble, you can't tell wether they'll suit you until you've done a week or twos worth of graft, then you're stuck with them
  5. Smug bastard. I bet his mrs is smoking hot too... @DrewB?
  6. They look like a bit of me. How much?
  7. I think the potential for misuse is the same no matter what brand you go for, you can risk a swing with any hook if you settle for a dodgy placement, which is sometimes the case. I do think the captain is worth the money for the engineering that's gone into it and will undoubtedly be better for tree work. Like I've already said mine doesn't get used often but when it does its invaluable. I've got my mainline spliced both ends so I use the tail end for the hook when needed. Then when I get there I can use the tail as a second system. Having the hook on a seperate line in a bag is just a lot of faff for me.
  8. Haven't we all done similar?
  9. Friends don't let friends buy Stein. I had the tekichu launcher and voiced my experiences of it in a similar thread. I was shortly contacted by stein who suggested I could've contacted them before voicing my opinion online, and that they would send me a replacement (along with a couple of throwlines/bags etc). That wasn't really what I was after and to cut a long story short the replacement didn't last long either. I've got a big shot w/ archery trigger now and it's great. The current stein one may well be loads better though.
  10. Skyland have a pretty decent stock of spares if you're looking.
  11. Yeah mine does that, just a worn band is all, 20 min job to replace if you can be arsed.
  12. You know its good be a good kinda reduction when the spikes and bollard are on 👍
  13. Lovely bit of pruning, that!
  14. The dmm hook is going to be far better than some ebay jobby. It's designed by an industry leading manufacturer for a specific purpose. Is also not really the kind of thing many people would sell. Mine lives in my bag for weeks at a time until it has a job worth using it on, then it's invaluable. You may get lucky though and find some college leaver that's bought all the kit then realised they can't climb.
  15. You've got a no kill policy, but it's against the law to release grey squirrels once captured. What do you do then?
  16. Wish the same could be said for you.
  17. Who, the bloke who sells bars, chains and sprockets?
  18. Fair enough, the model that I sometimes use is a 235mx I think, which is 7.5" or thereabouts? Probably double the weight of a 150.
  19. Would you not run another Schliesing Mick? If all the chippers I've used that's what I'd be surrendering my hypothetical money on.
  20. Fair enough, I'll do anything I can these days to avoid using a heavier saw than needed
  21. Because its crazy! If you buy an 88 have a longer bar so you don't have to double cut? I reckon a 66 on a 30" would cut faster than an 88
  22. Why you'd have a 30" bar on an 881? Seems mental!
  23. This part confuses me.
  24. I'm with Matty, the appeal is the lack of weight and the smooth constant torque. It keeps that 660 off my harness for just that bit longer. It's still the best saw I've used apart from the 2511 in terms of power to weight, but it's not a total game changer. It does make my life easier though.
  25. That's you and Matty running 28". Reckon I might try that next time I replace the bar.
