  1. Am I the only one who barely touches his silky now I have a 150? The only time I use my Tsurugi is when the offending branch is a couple of inches off my rope. Don't give me the safety crap. I've had/witnessed dozens of silky cuts in this job, only one chainsaw cut. (That's one less than hedge trimmer injuries ftr)
  2. Your arms are 6 foot each! Like you need and extension! When I saw you climb at the c&c you barely left the stem to hit the targets
  3. Knocked up a quick chest harness this evening.
  4. Could do a lot worse. There are a few threads on starter kits. I've itemised the cheapest basic kits for people in a couple of them. Can't really be arsed to do it a third time but if you search for them they might help.
  5. My first ever weekend job was similar! Some lady had a "Rastafarian bloke with an axe" fell a dozen conifers in her garden. He charged her £300 for a mornings work. I charged £200 to clear them with an old double cab ranger. Took me 3 days!!!
  6. Nice video by the way. If you get good work from the company I'd be tempted to let them use it as a goodwill gesture.
  7. Is it not his intellectual property?
  8. I reckon most people expect to pay postage anyway, especially if they're not near a local dealer. I'd rather pay a fiver to have a screw delivered than drive 15 miles to pick it up! Mind you, I've bulked up an order from Jones' from £10 to £75 before to avoid paying postage!
  9. Seems pretty unanimous so far Justin, I can only echo the above. I usually use L&S, but I'd rather use you guys. My local dealer is out of the equation, since they described the 20" 3/8 chain I was ordering as a "special part" which they'd have to order in!
  10. I was given one of the earlier models kindly by a member. It's fantastic in the right tree. Well it's good in most trees actually. Requires a fair amount of thumb pressure to use properly, which makes it awkward to use left handed because of where the rope terminates to the left of the device. I think a lot of people saw the Spiderjackery vids and bought one off the back of that, then realised they were still crap compared to Joe Harris. The climber makes that video more than the device IMO. Watch "friction hitchery"
  11. Getting them to collect it is one thing. Prying it out of their vice like grip is another!
  12. Indeed. Other than that the two niggles I had with the SJ were left handed use, and the amount of thumb pressure required. If they've sorted that it'll be a hell of a gadget. I like how they've put the running line towards the climber too.
  13. I'd ask how you knew about them, but I really don't wanna know! Yup, it's sad indeed. Probably fat ugly female cutters kicking off.
  14. I'll pose for some photos and you can stick 'em on your chain oil Dave. Favourite position?
  15. It's a shame they stopped making those specs. The new version are seriously underpowered. I blame emissions regs.
  16. Arbormaster 16 strand splice for Jammydog on here. Not sure if I prefer 16 strand to double braid. Stabbed my finger on welding wire, so now it's red, white and blue.
  17. As I understand it, you can do your assessment on whatever system you like (excepting SRT perhaps), as long as it's industry recognised/approved. They'll want you to demonstrate knowledge/competence on a basic system though.
  18. Ti, Mark has a strict "four feet on the ground policy". He's a true entrepreneur in the Arb game. Don't feel daft that you're just hearing about it now, he's been keeping it close to his chest. Mark, keep on going with your idea, don't let the naysayers get you down. Bingham had his critics too.
  19. I prefer the Ropeguide. Better retrieval due to the cam releasing and opening up when pulled.
  20. That's not Matt, that's just Anna in the morning.
  21. Couldn't the same be said for the TM? fully rebuild able, perhaps, but cost effective? No one would be interested if a hairy bloke with a beer belly was modelling it.
