  7. Took the bull by the horns on Saturday..........There is a local car dealership that has put up a 40ft Xmas tree, I dropped in there and asked if they had plans to dispose of it. Turns out that they didint so I left a card with them and got a phonecall this morning......! The tree is not an easy fell as there are cars all over the place, including two new Celica`s right under it! Went to meet the chap in charge and explained that it would be best to dismantle it due to the wind and the cars being in the way. It would also need to be done out of hours as they didnt want to deter customers due to the nature of the job. No worries I said, I can do it tonight if you want! To which he replied, "It will of course be free of charge"! PMSL!!! To which I replied, I cant do it for free as its not an easy job with the cars and all, to which he replied "You can have the wood"! There is about £20 quids worth of wood in it! I had to keep a straight face, thank him for his time and walk away. I felt like saying, "Ok, no worries.......how about you give me a new Hilux at cost price................!

  18. Hiya, I live in Cornwall and run my owl landscaping/garden maintenance business, I also do tree work when required. I have been doing it for approx 6 months and am wondering if its worth keeping going or calling it a day. I love working, it gives me a sence of purpose and achievement that is very important to me, if I have a day where i dont feel that I have achieved something i find it hard to deal with. I have the drive and enthuasism to work but im finding it very hard to find work! I appreciate that its early days for my business but I would be greatfull for any hints on how to get some work coming in, I have tried; Emailing local places with grounds/gardens Fliers Website (which is being modified at the mo to try and get on the magical first page of google) Any additional ideas are very welcome!
  19. Looks like a nice little job to me, recon I could do it in a day on my own without too much bother. Wouldnt charge much more than £300 to be honest, its a simple little job, it is what it is!
  20. Thanks for the help fellas!
  21. Valid points, however when you are starting out and have very little cashflow £400 is alot of money! Im happy to knock my own up, im sure it will be as good as the "genuine" one due to the fact that both myself and my old man (who likes helping me make stuff) are qualified welder and fabricators! Anyway, we will just have to agree to disagree!
  22. Fair enough, I will be making my own though. I understand what you are saying but I have the necessary skills to make my own and not the bank balance to buy one! If it takes a little "underhand" decisions like this to get my business underway and put food on my table then im willing to do it. I have worked out rough dimensions anyway and was only after dimensions of trolleys that others have already made, after all this thread is called "Anyone made an arbour trolley"!
  23. Does anyone have the rough measurements of an arbour trolley? Im looking to knock one up and was wondering about the length and width of the main body?
  24. Hiya, Im looking for work in Cornwall, I have cs30/31, own saw, my own transport (l200 with chipbox) and a small chipper (entec chippit 4") If I can be use to anyone please feel free to PM me! Regards, Anthony.
