  1. Like the leaf shapes:001_smile:
  2. Very nice, been wanting to try one of those for ages. Didn't know what they were called.
  3. Did these little kids chairs at the weekend Still need a fair bit of sanding mind. The bases are hollowed out in the hope of minimising any splits, time will tell if it worked.
  4. Like the wizard, love the pug, very natural looking.
  5. :thumbup:Justin, thanks mate. The stuff I ordered has just turned up, that was pretty quick and best price too.

    Cheers,

    Si

  6. Thanks Tom, much appreciated mate.
  7. Looking good:thumbup1: How will you mount it (no pun intended), Looking at the back of the neck it would suit a wall mount maybe. Just a suggestion but what about using a section with an even elbow so you have the arching neck and head shape already, less wood to remove, hey I'm lazy:001_tongue:
  8. Cheers Kim. Forgot to add this one.
  9. Started off as a stool, but may just pass it off as a sculpture. Got lots of ideas from this, and now know how to improve on it. Next ones will have a much bigger canopy. If I can get hold of a big enough log I want to carve an avenue of trees as a bench. The foliage was textured with a home made punch. Cheers, Si
  10. Never thought of painting, looks good:thumbup1:
  11. Green woodworking by Mike Abbot is a great book, will be needing to acquire a new copy myself, after discovering a leak in workshop was getting soaked up by my current copy:thumbdown:
  12. Getting excited now Thanks Steve
  13. Hi, I'm looking for somewhere local (Merseyside-ish) where I can just do a CS30 I just want to get legit on the carving side of things and raise my game, maybe even put in for some of the comps next year. I know there's Millhouse Training and Myerscough College but is there a cheaper option? If there's anyone with some leads on here please PM me. Thank you, Si
  14. Great title, even better table. Good to see you posting on here again too:thumbup1:
  15. This is the future [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ws6AAhTw7RA]Quantum Levitation - YouTube[/ame]
  16. Looks unlikely things will change, seems like there's a lot of other industries that pay vat on gear too. Trying to think outside the box, someone should bring out a range of ballistic waders:sneaky2: they're just big boots aren't they?
  17. Ah cheers, I thought it had come up before but failed to find it. Cheers I'll have a read. Si
  18. That's a lot clearer thanks Andy:thumbup1: But why are keks not in this group? Surely they are a vital piece of safety kit! GRRR!
  19. Thanks for that Rupe, but why has that been decided? When I worked as a gardener years back, work boots (not chainsaw) were supplied by the company. I don't know, I just think it should all be VAT exempt. Cheers, Si
  20. Can anyone enlighten me why boots have no vat but keks do? Thanks, Si
  21. I'd really like to know too:001_smile: Been wanting to make some big gouges from car leaf springs for ages, give us some pointers please! Cheers, Si
  22. Can't add any advice mate but that dropped limb on the left would make a cool dragon:001_smile:
  23. I wish you could click a like tab on folks posts.
  24. Nice tree, I can see a face but no shadow, am I missing the big picture?
