  1. Hi folks, I've a friend in the Daventry area who's looking for some straight 3-5 inch diam logs to build a retaining wall in her garden, like the horrible cheap log roll things but much better if you get what I'm saying. If anyone on here is nearby and can help her out please PM me your details and I'll pass them on. She's NOT after a freebee BTW:biggrin: Cheers, Si
  2. Hi Geesaw, Like your work:thumbup: Rob.D on here (Chainsawbars ? bars, chains and chainsaw accessories) is worth chatting to. He's got some budget carving bars in, zebra ones and there's a deal on chain too I think. Si
  3. Got to agree:thumbup: Formby is my Home town (village) and the reds are a big part of our identity. Well worth a visit.
  4. Hi Andy, Cheers for that, think I was just letting doubt get the better of me. TBH I'd love to upgrade both my boots and kecks but I can't really justify the investment yet. I bought the wellies cos they were the cheapest option at the time and I only needed to use them very occasionally. A few big jobs and I'll be up for some decent boots and kecks. Si
  5. Hi folks, I'm going legit:sneaky2: and have signed up for CS30. I've read the pre course info sheet and was wondering how stringent tutors are? In the leaflet it says" Protective boots* (complying with BS ISO 20345: 2004)" I've some chainsaw wellies that pre date this 2004 thing and have some mouse nibblings at the top by the lace/draw string . They've served me well and as far as blocking material they are still fit for purpose. Would I be pulled off the course for not complying? Will I need to shell out and upgrade/replace? Haha, I've been using saws safely for years but now I'm confronted with rules and regs I've gone all paranoid! Si
  6. Jesus Christ! Spotted this in the paper whilst on me hols in Ireland.
  7. Like the red squirrel sanctuary idea, if it was my land I'd have a number of sculpture trails, something in the way of Grizedale and Lost Gardens of Hellagon. Build some tree house/stilt house pods for families to camp in or is it glamp? Open up some areas for those yurts too.
  8. According to the vid it's oak. One of Tim Burgess's great works. BBC NEWS | England | Spine tingling sculpture
  9. Great idea Rob, a few arb dealers are seeing a market for carving and you've already done more than most to push this forwards. Kudos to Nic, kind of makes me want to pull my finger out and start taking things seriously:biggrin: Still want that bar BTW, I'll have it when my saw is running. Cheers, Si
  10. Nice bit of fun, are they in a park Rob?
  11. Hi Peter, It was a Stihl bar mate, I don't think they sell other carving bars. I would imagine they'd fit. Have a chat with Justin(jonsie). Rob D (chainsawbars) is worth talking to as well. Si
  12. Hi, I thought it came with a 1/4 sprocket? Jonsie from FR Jones tested one of their stihl carving bars on one for me as I liked the look of one for workshop use, it had the 1/4 sprocket as standard so the carving bar was fine apparently. Still haven't tried for myself but if in doubt speak to Jonsie. Si
  13. Cheers Steve, yes all in the right place. I'll have a read up and then have another crack at it. After all this I may still end up posting the damn thing down to you:lol: TBH I wish I had mate, I could at least be using it now! Si
  14. Found a link to this today, I've not yet had a proper study but it looks like a really useful manual. I know jack about carbs so this will be a great resource to me and others I suspect. http://wem.walbro.com/distributors/servicemanuals/ServiceManual.pdf
  15. Spotted this on ebay today, different saw but same location ie photo. Not sure if this is part of the same scam or if this is genuine and the image was ripped off for the other scam. Intriguing. stihl 011 AV top handle chainsaw saw tree surgeon sthil ms200t spares repair | eBay
  16. Controversial, but yes really beautiful.
  17. This came up on facebook today, seems like there's a few been done as part of a trail. Anyone heard of it or seen them? https://www.facebook.com/St.SimonsTreeSpirits/photos
  18. In between looking after the kids and resurrecting an old 010av and various other jobs that take me away from carving, I've managed to find a little quiet time to put the ideas into wood. Here's one of them, went off today, an Italian sheepdog pendant. Si
  19. Best one yet Kim, absolutely brilliant mate!
