    Oregon 25AP

Has anyone used or is using a Oregon 25AP chain? How does it compare with the Stihl PM3 3/8" Picco Micro 3?

    Kerf

Does anyone know what the kerf of the Oregon 1/4" pitch 25AP chain is? Many thanks - Peter

    Oil holes

Thanks Rob. The photo is from their web site and I could not understand the notches. I have never seen oiler notches before.

    Oil holes

Could someone throw some light on these grooves in this carving bar? I presume the holes I marked with red arrows are the oil holes. What are the grooves I marked with green arrows? All contributions are welcome. Many thanks - Peter
  5. Hi Rowan, I would suggest that you ask the Australian Customs what do they EXACTLY require. Just "VERY CLEAN" or "STERILE". Alcohols will disinfect, but not sterilise. If they want it sterile, you would need to strip the large bits down and after really getting them clean ask a friendly local hospital to sterilise each saw and the bits in Ethylene Oxide bag. Ethylene Oxide is a gas, and it comes as a liquid in a sealed ampule. The liquid rapidly becomes a gas as soon as the glass ampule is broken in the sealed airtight plastic bag. It takes 24 hours to sterilise the contents of each bag. It is routinely used to sterilise delicate or electronic operating equipment and instruments that cannot be put through a steam autoclave. There are special test strips that can certify that the instruments in the bag are sterile. As long as the bag is still properly sealed and certified by the hospital. Hope this is of some help, and cutoms only require clean saws. Peter
  6. Thanks for the replies. I need to fit longer carving bars than 30 cm. Do you mean that the Dime and Quarter bars have different fittings? Over 30 to 35 cm lengths I understand they would need to be 0.05" gauges. Many thanks - Peter
  7. Many thanks Simon. Yes you are correct it does come with a 1/4" drive as standard. But the 3/8" sprocket is an extra option. Did you know which make of carving bar they tried on the motor? Regards - Peter
  8. Dear Team, Has anyone fitted a solid Cannon, GB or other 3/8" carving bar to a Stihl MSA 160 battery saw? Is the fitting exactly the same as the bars that fit onto the small petrol models, or mains electric models such as the MSE 140 or 180? I appreciate I would need to change the sprocket drive on the motor to 3/8" from 1/4". It appears that such a sprocket is available for the saw. Advice and experiences on the unit and guide bars are very welcome! Many thanks - Peter
