  6. It is mate😊, still got a few bits left. Very nice to carve, wish I'd got more of it haha
  7. Thanks greengui, no finish on it yet, just lightly sanded. It maybe some surface bar oil residue giving it some temporary lustre.
  8. Chainsaw only carved tulip wood.
  9. One day carving event at Pleasureland, Southport on Sunday 24 May. Still a few places available if you want to carve, pm me if interested. Everyone else, come over for a great day out 😁 Cheers, Si
  10. I've done the router sled to true up small off cuts for bread boards. Works well and could easily be up scaled for wide boards. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Arbtalk mobile app
  11. If you expect to swap back to a regular bar often it may be simpler to get a quarter tip carving bar and run both set ups on lo pro off your original sprocket. You can get Oregon sculptor bars in longer lengths as well as GB bars. If you want to.buy the best you can get Cannon bars If you don't mind swapping out the sprocket every time you want to change bars hen get a dime tip, 1/4 sprocket and 1/4 chain.
  12. Haha, I like that Steve 😄
  13. Haha made you look
  14. Making use of some off cuts
  15. Cheers Gary, that sounds promising. Delivery would be preferable I'll give you a bell tomorrow mate. Cheers, Si

  20. I'm trying to get a carving event off the ground in Southport and I'm on the hunt for potential suppliers for the logs. Several butts about 2ft diameter up to 8 ft long plus cord wood for speed carves. Sitka, larch, wrc kind of thing. Any contacts would be very much appreciated, thanks, Si Sent from my Nexus 7 using Arbtalk mobile app
  21. No problem I'm not familiar with the 181 either lol, 170/171 and 200/201 have the small C1 mount that most carving bars fit. 240,260 etc up to 660 take the bigger S1 mount. Cheers, Si
  22. I'm not familiar with husqvarna mounts but this should help you work out if your bar will be compatible with a 550 http://www.cannonbar.com/PDFs/SuperBarsFlyer.pdf
  23. You can get bar adapters so stihl bars will fit the smaller husky mounts, though having said that your bar would have the small stihl mount if it fits your 181 so it may not fit a larger stihl saw anyway??
  24. A solid nose bar will generate a lot more heat than a sprocket nose, I reckon this will be a factor in your issues. I don't know why Stihl don't make sprocket nosed bars over 3ft. If you can afford it I'd get a sugi hara one of RobD if you plan on doing a lot of milling with your saw.
  25. I like Jrose ideas, Rob D has a very user friendly site though. As far as carving bars are concerned, unless you are willing to source a variety of makes then I'd maybe look at capturing the market of new carvers who don't wish to spend £100+ on a bar. So click on a bar and info of bar mount, compatible with makes/models of saws. With link to types of chain available and number of links needed( I know this can vary by a link or two). Link to sprockets and worm drive options. Link to files/ sharpening kits. Maybe offer discount for a conversion kit, bar, chain, sprocket and worm drive and sharpening kit for ms 171,181 etc.
