  6. In the next few months im going to start advertising in the local rag and yell after i finish college. As it stands the company name is AMT Tree Surgery But ive got my old man in my ear saying its a crap name and not catchy enough for people to remember and it needs to be like 'ruskins' 'treefella' along the lines of one catchy word. Has he got logic behind what hes saying and should i be thinking of changing it before proper advertisiing starts? Thanks Folks Arran

  10. What would be a good chipper to start with that weighs under700kg, I havnt got a clue where to start or what's good or bad. When working it'll only be me or me and a labourer. How does the green mech cs100 stand in the working world? Anything I buy will be second hand so what do I have to watch out for. Sorry for being vague Thanks Arran
  11. Getting the new truck sign written soon, was just wondering what people's thoughts are of advertising what work you do, like a list saying tree reduction, thinning, felling etc, just wondering how much it would benefit with the amount of work that would come through. Any thoughts? Arran

It makes your the start of your day crapp but oh well wont go there again ay Arran
  15. Read the nptc assessment critea booklet for the cs38, it can be downloaded from the NPTC website. If your familar before you do the weeks training its much easier, also learn the knots used as during the week it will be one less thing to think about Double bowline Larks foot figure of 8 prussik knot Timber hitch Munters hitch They are roughly the ones you will need, im sure as a climber already you know half of them Arran
  16. I want to take the visor off my climbing lid and am going to use glasses instead, what are the rules when it comes to not having a visor, mainly when using a chainsaw in the tree? And could i wear my oakleys instead of saftey glasses? thanks folks Arran
  17. thanks folks, i think thats enough to make me want one more, will pop down to stantons next week Arran
  18. Thinking about getting one can people offer opinions whether they like it or not, I like it but i often wonder if it will become a pain reaching to my leg just to get my saw and if it becomes hard work when in stretched positions. Also does it fall out much because of the angles your legs are when climbing and when moving in dense trees. I would like to get it off my harness so there is less on there and i think it looks pretty cool too lol Thanks folks Arran
  19. Emailed the local tree officer if a customers house has any TPO's and he sent back The above property is covered by TPO 6/1975. Does anyone know what this means? Sorry im new to the tree game He didnt write what trees where or wernt that is all the email consisted of Thanks arran
  20. Ive read through the rope wrench and watched a few videos, its making some sense but I would love to see someone climbing on one in person. Alot of dosh for everything including the sj and wrench, ill stay on ddrt and prussik loops for a while yet arran
  21. Ive just done my cs38 and had a go on SRT, found it nice but very expensive for an ascent method only, do people use it for all jobs in a tree instead of DDRT? So for ascent, desent annd moving around the whole crown, and if so how just wondering its potential Arran
  22. and another prusik loop and krab the list did look a little short
  23. short strop with prussik (one krab) first aid pack with knife in it split tail to climb on with isc fixed cheek pulley attached with snapgate and a small bit as accessory cord to make it all work (one krab) and silky but i would like to get a sawpod to get it off of my harness trying to be minimalist Arran
