Im 18 years old also

I am going to finish my extended diploma in horticulture in june/july ( not sure of an exact date. I want to go out with an arb company, my main interest lies within trees and I do not have any other thoughts of being in any other industries. I have booked my CS30 31 38 chipper ticket and basic tree surveying courses for early next year. I am currently running a small garden maintenance/ small tree work business which is going well but I really want to get into climbing and climbing big trees. Working in a team with experienced people is the way to go i feel. I go out to my local woods and climb trees to gain skills and to have fun, im only climbing on prussic and blakes but i guess i have to start somewhere, this to me is a good way to get practice in and have fun whilist becoming fit for tree work. I am physically able and very willing to work. On top of college and my own little business I waiter at a hotel in the evenings to gain a few extra pounds, even worked christmas day . I understand I would only be put on a chipper and or dragging brush and that doesnt bother me everyone works there way up. I live in the south east / Essex / Rm17 6la to be presise I want to start looking now as i know time will fly in my last year at college and i dont want to be not working. The problem is my rope is too slick, might be because its reasonably new, i don't know, its marlow gecko. I would rather work without gloves Arran

Hallo guys, Just wondering what gloves you are using, or if using none. I like the idea of not using gloves, one less thing to forget/ lose/ pay for but when i climb my hands cannot cope. I have to grip twice a hard to hold on. I dont have ladies hands but they might not be climbing hardy yet? Is anyone using a more permanent glove? I currently use the latex palm gloves but they really dont last. when climbing my prussic or blakes hitch pinch the latex off. Do I just need to man up Thank you Arran

bought a fig of eight today and in the manual it shows a fig of eight backed up with a prussik attached to the leg loop by krab, its called 'dead mans hand', i guess u descend by controlling the prussik? Im going to go out tomorrow and have a go arran

What are peoples thoughts of descending on a figure of eight? I was descending on prussik and blakes hitch and they are not partically quick and when It does get quick they get really hot and i dont want to ruin my rope/ pre tied knots. I was only climbing a small tree in my local woods and would like to have some fun descending, what are people opinions Thank you very much Arran

Can you spec what wire core flip line you use? Im new to the climbing game and there are so many variations in lanyards and fliplines it seems full of endless combinations on different websites. Also what length you use, i know this will change from how big of trees you climb, just your most used length? Or what you are going to use if you havent yet bought Thank you very much Arran

makes me think about wearing gaunlets when using a silky, be a bit nasty through your forearm, suprised it got through everything in one sweep. On a positive side if there is one? Silky's seem to be rather sharp

Just wondering what variations people use with a basic pre tied prussik knot e.g. with pulleys etc, really intrests me what ways in which it can be adapted to make life easier or just different. I know its a basic knot and theres far better/ easier ways to climb. Just wondering peoples techiques with prussik :thumbup: If people have any pictures that would be brilliant Thank you Arran

How do you keep the throwline in the bag that clips to your harness not knotted? And how long is your throwline roughly? The knots in mine are so annoying Thanks alot Arran

there are a few crates about which i can use. Crates and pallets are good as i can move wood with the forklift. Im in thurrock 15 mins away from lakeside shopping centre thanks arran
