1. Thanks for the input everyone. JimE are you the riko dealer on the south coast? And Chopper Edoff i like you thinking. Maybe will give some of it a try but might end up being locked away for a little while.
2. Weve got a new tanaka and a new husky. The tanaka is a good machine but seems to be more of a trimmer, will do thinner growth but doesnt sound happy on the thicker bits. So have got a husky to cut the thicker stuff ( says up to 25mm ). Equally good machine. Would recommend both but comes down to what you need.

Veg oil

I thought about doing it..... But worked on the basis that if it did bugger the td5 engine it's going to cost me alot more than what I've saved on fuel. There are other people who run them on used engine oil. Filtering it before it goes in the tank. Didn't do it for the same reason.
4. Some time over the weekend we had our log yard broken into and our saw bench stolen. Its only a few months old. A riko/balfor self contained saw bench. The one with its own petrol engine. In blue and orange colours. Was stolen from our yard near Haywards Heath, West Sussex. Any info please let me know, cash reward for its return. Cheers tim
5. How much was the new blades from saturn knives, need a spare set for mine?
6. Ive got the hitachi nail gun. Had it about 4 years now. Apart from usual cleaning of the cylinder has worked faultlessly. Would definitely recommend one. A company called power tool world were selling them for £250.00 around christmas.
7. By chance does the person who was selling his ford ranger on arbtrader a month or two ago still have it for sale. Was a blue single cab for sale. cheers all
8. Have you noticed if there is a small drip below the brake pedal? Not the easiest thing to notice if your landy is as dirty as mine. I had the same problem with mine and it turned out to be the master cylinder leaking. Its only a small leak so hard to notice, just clean the floor below the pedal and check it after a day or two's use. Its a very common problem. Not hard to fix and parts are cheap, just fiddly to do.
9. Im doing the same sort of thing. Ive just gone through buying somewhere so my savings have taken a pounding. Im putting down £500 deposit and doing the rest on finance of a cs100. It will cope with most things i do and when i do larger jobs i sub people in who bring larger chippers with them. While the interest rates are so low borrowing money is costing next to nothing.
10. Im in the sussex
11.

Hi, Another member has told me to get in contact with you regarding chipper finance. Im after a good comapny to arrange the finance.

Cheers tim

12. Can anyone recommend a finance company? Im looking into buying a new chipper and the first company ive been speaking to have taken a week just to confirm i am looking to buy a new chipper. Doesn't fill me with confidence.
13. I've had two of my three landy's stolen. It's a pain in arse. Least of all for the work time you loose while it all get sorted. My only advice to people to have landy's is buy some of X engineering's products. Not the cheapest but it's alot better than having the landy pinched.
14. I've recently bought a long arm husky hedge cutter and have not had any problems with it. Really nice piece of kit. So would imagine the smaller one is as good.
15. Could be the starter is on its way out. My td5 went through a two week spell of sometimes it would start other times the starter would keep clicking. After two weeks the starter gave up completely, not hard to change, takes about an hour if you don't mind getting dirty.
16. I'm using a tanaka loop handled strimmer. Brought it after visiting a stihl dealer I use alot and him telling me all the smaller loop handled strimmers stihl sell are s**t. I've used my father in laws tanaka hedge cutter but doesn't seem like it would with the thick stuff like my old stihl hedge cutter.
17. I'm after a new long arm hedge cutter and was wondering what people would recommend? At the moment I'm looking at the husky 327 or one of the Japanese ones echo, tanaka, etc... It looks to me like the Japanese ones are all virtually the same but with a few minor changes between brands. Cheers all.

pricing/rates

I normally put prices in for larger jobs where the bills will be higher. Then the customer knows what it's going cost. Small jobs like the ones your getting asked to do I do on an hourly rate. Speak to a few people locally to you and find out what a good fair day rate and hourly rate is for you.
19. Had something similar with mine. Was becoming harder and harder to get into first, second, and reverse. Turned out to be the clutch fluid was really low. Changed and bled the clutch and it was sorted. Don't know if this is any help but worth a check as its a cheap fix.
20. I had a 2003 one. I was the second owner, was owned by aggregates company. Had 122,000 miles with fsh and did almost everything I asked of it. Wasn't good for towing, and mpg was around 25 so not great. I would recommend them. Just look for one that hasn't been abused its entire life and you should be alright.
21. Bit of a long shot but does anyone have any knowledge on these. I've been offered one with less than 1000 hrs on the clock for £4k. I don't really know if this is a good price or not and what they are like as tractor. Would be looking to use it to run a splitter and a saw bench. Cheers all.
22. I brought a new saw this week and it comes fitted with stihl's new duro chain. It's got high carbon teeth and is meant to need sharpening four times less. All sounds great until you find out the price for a replacement 14" chain is £45. Does anyone have any experience of the chains and are they worth the money.
23. I've got 50 tonnes to move from crowborough to Sheffield park. A forestry company are getting me the number of someone who might be able to help.
24. As the title says really, I'm after a towable splitter and wondered if anyone has one for sale early me next year. I'm in the south east but would travel a little way.
25. Does anyone know if a company who has an 8 wheeler for transporting timber in the south east? Also anyone have any ideas on price, it's a 16 mile round trip. Cheers all
