1. I'm after new roller mower. Went and got the bits priced up to get the hayter 56 I use back to full working order and price came in at £300. I'm thinking that I'll look into buying a new one rather than sink £300 into the old one. My various local dealers do Hayters, lawnflight (Honda), and Weibang. Other dealers a little further away stock most other makes. All seem to be around £1050ish. Has anyone got any opinions good or bad on the new mowers available. It's normally out 4-5 days a week all day so needs to be robust. Cheers all
2. I'm looking at getting my 38 and 39 done at some point after Christmas. Does anyone know of or can recommend someone in or around mid Sussex. Based near haywards Heath. I know there is plumpton just wondering if there is anywhere else. Cheers all
3. I'd used a 230 for years. Then replaced with a 231, wouldn't recommend buying one. Doesn't seem to be as good as the 230. Cost me just over £300, probably a lot of other saws on the marke for same sort of money
4. I'm not saying not the stihl. That's the one I think I'll be buying. Just wondered if there were any other options with a clutch.
5. I'm after a one man auger for a fencing job I have come up. Can anyone recommend one apart from the stihl one. Cheers
6. Think they're the same. Sure production was 98-06. My father in law has a 98 one on 215,000 miles now. I've got a late reg 07, last of the classic shape on 55,000 miles. Think it's just the luck of the draw.
7. I'm after a 10/12ft tripod ladder. Is there any difference between the Henchman and the Workware ones apart from £20? Cheers all
8. I was in the same situation as you. Either loads of builders bags of rubbish or a couple of trips to the bonfire with a loaded truck. Had enough cash in the bank to put a deposit on a green mech cs100 and I'm paying the rest on finance. I've had it three months now and am really impressed with it. I never bothered demoing one just got one after reading all the good comments on here. It's exceeded all my expectations. You do need to be fairly good with your snedding, and keep the blades sharp. I wouldn't say it's making me a huge amount of money yet, it's covering it costs. It's more the time it saves you on every job.
9. What does everyone use for general work gloves? I'm currently using the Orange latex builders gloves at £1 a pair, tend to last about a week. Just wonder if there is anything better.
10. Thanks for the input everyone. JimE are you the riko dealer on the south coast? And Chopper Edoff i like you thinking. Maybe will give some of it a try but might end up being locked away for a little while.
11. Weve got a new tanaka and a new husky. The tanaka is a good machine but seems to be more of a trimmer, will do thinner growth but doesnt sound happy on the thicker bits. So have got a husky to cut the thicker stuff ( says up to 25mm ). Equally good machine. Would recommend both but comes down to what you need.

Veg oil

I thought about doing it..... But worked on the basis that if it did bugger the td5 engine it's going to cost me alot more than what I've saved on fuel. There are other people who run them on used engine oil. Filtering it before it goes in the tank. Didn't do it for the same reason.
13. Some time over the weekend we had our log yard broken into and our saw bench stolen. Its only a few months old. A riko/balfor self contained saw bench. The one with its own petrol engine. In blue and orange colours. Was stolen from our yard near Haywards Heath, West Sussex. Any info please let me know, cash reward for its return. Cheers tim
14. How much was the new blades from saturn knives, need a spare set for mine?
15. Ive got the hitachi nail gun. Had it about 4 years now. Apart from usual cleaning of the cylinder has worked faultlessly. Would definitely recommend one. A company called power tool world were selling them for £250.00 around christmas.
16. By chance does the person who was selling his ford ranger on arbtrader a month or two ago still have it for sale. Was a blue single cab for sale. cheers all
17. Have you noticed if there is a small drip below the brake pedal? Not the easiest thing to notice if your landy is as dirty as mine. I had the same problem with mine and it turned out to be the master cylinder leaking. Its only a small leak so hard to notice, just clean the floor below the pedal and check it after a day or two's use. Its a very common problem. Not hard to fix and parts are cheap, just fiddly to do.
18. Im doing the same sort of thing. Ive just gone through buying somewhere so my savings have taken a pounding. Im putting down £500 deposit and doing the rest on finance of a cs100. It will cope with most things i do and when i do larger jobs i sub people in who bring larger chippers with them. While the interest rates are so low borrowing money is costing next to nothing.
19. Im in the sussex
20.

Hi, Another member has told me to get in contact with you regarding chipper finance. Im after a good comapny to arrange the finance.

Cheers tim

21. Can anyone recommend a finance company? Im looking into buying a new chipper and the first company ive been speaking to have taken a week just to confirm i am looking to buy a new chipper. Doesn't fill me with confidence.
22. I've had two of my three landy's stolen. It's a pain in arse. Least of all for the work time you loose while it all get sorted. My only advice to people to have landy's is buy some of X engineering's products. Not the cheapest but it's alot better than having the landy pinched.
23. I've recently bought a long arm husky hedge cutter and have not had any problems with it. Really nice piece of kit. So would imagine the smaller one is as good.
24. Could be the starter is on its way out. My td5 went through a two week spell of sometimes it would start other times the starter would keep clicking. After two weeks the starter gave up completely, not hard to change, takes about an hour if you don't mind getting dirty.
25. I'm using a tanaka loop handled strimmer. Brought it after visiting a stihl dealer I use alot and him telling me all the smaller loop handled strimmers stihl sell are s**t. I've used my father in laws tanaka hedge cutter but doesn't seem like it would with the thick stuff like my old stihl hedge cutter.
