    Ash tree

Really? i would think the timber hitch would be better on the slippy stuff no? To me it has a better grip on the wood than the bowline and it would for sure be backed up with a half hitch on the slippy stuff. Spot on with the slings though, also with a rigging plate and you can get a bunch of branches in the one go:thumbup1:
  3. oops ignore the 3rd photo it should have been this instead...
  4. just call me the baby fungi hunter:001_rolleyes: Ok then here is 3 more fungi all on the same tree! 2 very easy ones that even i know without having to look them up but then there is the 3rd one (4th pic) not sure about that one. Going by the 2nd fungi (3rd pic) i guess the tree is in big trouble but what of the other 2? will they help in its demise? After a climb of it today (sycamore) i found a massive cavity half way up the main stem which made me stop and come back down saying " ok thats for felling, no way i am climbing any higher on that to do a heavy reduction." Last pic is the tree in question, its over a driveway and close enough to destroy a building.
  5. You forgot the breaker bar as well:thumbup1: Next time i am steering though, bet i could pick up more poo than you:001_tt2:

Didnt have a big enough card to get the lot of it i guess? Good effort anyway Do you always use the timber hitch? i find it easier to just tie a running bowline and sometimes back it up with a half hitch. All good.
  7. also the wheels are good at collecting dog turd if you dont look where you are going
  8. Overkill is good:thumbup: Thats a short bar for an 880 mind, dont think i have ever used one that will sit straight like that without the bar pulling it over:laugh1:
  9. wow now your almost getting into 3 strand nylon territory now. Dont you miss it? nah me either ooh i can still feel the blisters:thumbdown:
  10. ouch yea its best to let the heavy stuff go or it just hurts (from experience). Its hard to do but once you hurt yourself a few times you kinda get enough time to think twice before catching them.
  11. Here we go again, You tell me.... Last one was on the same stump as the first 3 photos so i just stuck it in there as a bonus point:001_tongue:
  12. Cool i am glad it wasnt too bad in the end. You should get plenty beer tokens out of that then or will it just keep you in sandwiches for a day? Why do you wait a year before putting it in the kiln?
  13. i like that never heard it called that before but i think i will start using it instead of sycamore from now on, has a nicer ring to it than vomit some more:lol:
  14. maybe i am just slow today but what has that got to do with anything on this thread?

    Sleep

I stay awake as long as possible and go to bed at midnight or after. That way i get not a great amount of hours sleep but they are mostly good hours. Still have the odd bad night but i put it down to eating too much cheese late at night.
  16. a customer should expect to pay what you ask for the job, not per hour. As has been said, there is too many variables to give an hourly rate to a customer. Price the job as is, if it takes you 1 hour or 10 hours it doesnt matter as long as its priced correctly.
  17. I was just using the ugly kid thing as an example of the sue everyone society, probably a bad example i know. As for someone stitching a cut then i would be happy whoever did it as long as i could see they were doing it to my standards. If it was a cut anywhere else other than my hand i would probably do it myself if i had the proper equipment, nothing worse than sitting in A&E for hours and then a nurse or even a doctor just washing it out and then stitching it in 5 minutes and sending you on your way. I could do it myself so i would or i would let someone else do it for me and i wouldnt even think of the word liable, thats the difference. I wasnt trying to have a dig at you elg and i am sorry if it came over like that.
  18. whats with the screw gate? is it as damaged as it looks or is it just the dodgy photo?
  19. Liability?? you mean having your friend sue you for trying to help? Thats so american that elg. Was it not the case once a child sued his/her parents because he/she was ugly and so was the parents, so the argument was they shouldnt have had a child because they should have known it would be ugly???? You americans need to chill out a bit:001_rolleyes: Anyway as for the OP i wish i knew someone that could or would do that for me, would save so much wasted time waiting in A&E while you bleed to death.
  20. gotcha:thumbup1: I mostly use mine while climbing anyway so i dont need a huge reach. Its good to just sit in the middle of the tree and be able to prune all around it without moving. At our age every little helps eh
  21. never used any silky loppers, didnt even know they did them... here is what i use Universal Telescopic Garden Cutter / Cutting Tools / Products | Fiskars UK they rock
