  1. Coz you don't have your hands full with the amount of daughters yet?
  2. This! When my 880 came new with the 47" stihl bar, I put it straight on eBay, it sold for more than the cost of the better sugi bar of the same size. No nose sprocket on the stihl, not a good thing. Sent from my E5823 using Arbtalk mobile app
  3. Aspen is good stuff for tools, both for use and long time storage. The potential issues are with older tools that have run on pump fuel for a long time. If you've no intention of using only aspen in the future, just empty all fuel tanks. Sent from my E5823 using Arbtalk mobile app
  4. I'm with Huck. If you struggled with you tree surgery business (as it appears you did) then why would you subsidise this business with money saved doing other work? Keep the tools if you like them, you'd be disappointed with their sale value. Sent from my E5823 using Arbtalk mobile app
  5. Should be fine I think.
  6. Think this'll be step one Sent from my E5823 using Arbtalk mobile app
  7. What a saga! Thanks for the update, and hopefully you'll get well soon! Sent from my E5823 using Arbtalk mobile app
  8. I'm not:biggrin: It's on my 7.5 ton Iveco
  9. Any updates on this mr B?
  10. This seems most likely the issue? Not looking forward to pulling the box out from under it:thumbdown:
  11. Not sure what you mean by that first question? The only way to get it in gear is to force it in quickly, no noise though. Same in all the gears when stationary, but when moving up or down the gears it's fine. Haven't tried engaging gear without clutch. The pedal feels (very) firm, and does not change, also I'd expect the clutch to slowly engage when in gear for a while but clutch down like at traffic lights? It does not do that. If it was the synchro rings I'd expect it to be different for the different gears, in most cars first and second would go first. But it's all the gears so I thought that was thus ruled out? If there was no or low oil (which tbh I haven't checked:blushing:) it should be worst when cold? as what little lubrication there is gets flung around when moving? The linkage moves freely, I've occasionally had to turn off engine, engage gear (smooth as...) start again and set off so the lever, linkage and selector yokes etc are free and smooth, warm or cold.
  12. My wife is still adamant everything (absolutely everyting, ever!) is my fault. Doesn't make it so though...
  13. no, that's M for M-tronic C is for comfort, Stihl thinks things like AV springs, springy recoil handle etc are comfort features
  14. I ruled that out by adjustment and testing. Sent from my E5823 using Arbtalk mobile app
  15. Not excited by that...big cast iron lump on the back of a 6l straight six.. Seems likely though. Don't think it's the clutch plates dragging, as when I adjusted them way past disengaged the problem is still there. I don't know how sticky mechanisms or bearings would be worse when warmed up though? Sent from my E5823 using Arbtalk mobile app
  16. In battery saws in means "comfort features" Sent from my E5823 using Arbtalk mobile app
  17. Think c can mean comfort, but also catalytic converter. Stihl haven't always been consistent with their naming. Sent from my E5823 using Arbtalk mobile app
  18. I've a gearbox issue I don't understand. When cold, all is fine. When warmed up, it's very hard to select gears, I have to really slam the stick to get the bugger in gear, changing up and down once moving is fine. I thought, maybe the clutch gap was so small that when warmed it was expanding and thus engaging slightly, even with the pedal pressed down. So I adjusted the clutch, easy job as the slave has an adjustment nut and is easily accessible. Made no difference, even when adjusted to the point of not properly engaging with the pedal released. There's no (obvious) leaks from either master or slave, not losing fluid. There's no clutch slippage. Don't think it would be synchro rings as when idling and warm it's the same in all gears? This particular gearbox has a reputation for the exact opposite, stiff to operate when cold. Could it be that a previous owner experienced that and used a lighter oil in the box, perhaps even added a friction modifier thus making the oil so slippery when warmed that the synchro doesn't have enough friction to spin the gear when meshed? Probably not a bad idea to change the oil anyway, but are there any other suggestions of possible issues that would make it misbehave like this? Sent from my E5823 using Arbtalk mobile app

  21. if going 2nd hand you might be able to find an older husky 372. I'd save a bit more and buy a new 365xt though, best value for money saw out there. about £400.
  22. I'm not clever. Got that straight away though, a touch of autism sure is helpful sometimes...
  23. Just beside wherever you park your caravan seems to be the norm in Peterborough... Sent from my E5823 using Arbtalk mobile app
  24. I recently used "quicksteel" epoxy on a diesel line with success. Cleaned it up with brake cleaner, gave it a quick rub with some scotchbrite, slapped it on and: happy motoring!
  25. Sorry for your woes. I've just installed a password manager. So all my important passwords are weird and unique and complicated and chanced regularly, I've just to remember the one master password, technology does the rest
