30 tonnes of free wood - near Ipswich, Suffolk - good access

I have available what I estimate to be ~35 ish tonnes of Douglas Fir. My estimate is based on 12 trees; smallest 9", largest 30". A variety of lengths, chogs, rings and poles. I did the maths ages ago. Maybe it's right. Maybe it's not. I can cut it all to handball size or you can get onsite with something with a grab. Site is between Hadleigh and Ipswich in Suffolk. Photo shows the variety of sizes. PM me.

Don't know what it is but it has some bulbous burry bits on it. Thought it might be of interest to a turner. Pickup from Hintlesham, Suffolk. No money wanted but make me a chalice and make my client a similar small trinket and that's a fair swap. Two very strong blokes could struggle it onto a trailer. One intelligent person could cut it into bits. Please PM. edit: I hasten to add that it was not cut by me!

Beginning to look convincing. What sections of the aforementioned do you think apply? I ask because I bet the wording is vague and it all comes down to common law and common sense anyway.

I say yes (but I suspect this will be a minority view). Everything is legal unless it is illegal so if anyone says no, please could they explain in as much detail as possible why with sources. edit: AA Paul has made a good start.

Have you looked into having tape measures with your company name/phone number on made and giving them as freebies to tree surgeons. Engineering firms do it with 6" rulers because people will put business cards in the bin but will always keep a ruler at their desk. You might get more logs when people have your number to hand rather than just saying "fvck it, ring it up" and you'll get real measurements from those who do that.

I love "pro users" (who simply wouldn't be seen dead with a homeowner saw darling) using 60cc saws to sned 1" leylandii branches for the same reason I love people driving Land Rovers. I am an all round fan of my competitors burning excess fuel and getting back backs.

Oh ye of little faith. I e-mailed the radio station with instructions to pass my contact details to the guy. I'll front him £40 for the train fare, a good breakfast and a packed lunch, pick him up, teach him some stuff, put him to work, top up the wages to a sensible day rate and send him off with an old Silky and some knowledge. Piece of piss. Good turn done. Anyone can copy my model. NB: I only do a few private jobs a year. Chaps on here who are out every day can surely find something for him to do even more easily than me.

Economic Helping to narrow the price gap between normal pump fuel and alkalyte fuel will encourage more people to use the posh stuff (which will still be more expensive). HMRC will lose 58p/litre duty but will get more back in increased VAT revenues. Many consumers are on the edge of changing from pump fuel to this posh stuff. If they do change, the gov will make more money. The above is part of an e-mail which I just sent to my MP (probably in vain but I'm putting off doing something else so why not...). Legal Gov officials are given discretionary powers to set things like taxes but they can only act within the powers they are given. Applying road duty to a product obviously not going to be used on the road could be seen as acting outside of their remit. This sort of thing can be challenged. -
I've just ordered 25 litres of MotoMix on the strength of threads like this and posters like the above. Looking forward to having a go with it. Nothing against Aspen btw, just that I was already getting a few Stihl bits at the same time. I'm sure I'll have a go with Aspen at some point too.

mendiplogs has got a Katanaboy for sale. Relatively expensive but sounds perfect for your application. They are better than you could believe. Other normal size Silkys run rings around any bow saw anyway though.
