  1. Oak tree had a branch rip and hang in some wind a while ago. Tidied it up today. Choice was to cut at the red line and leave a hangnail on with a crevice down to the orange line or to do what I did and finish ripping it off to the green line essentially. My reasoning was that the crevice would harbour insects etc and the full, flat wound could heal better because it’s a simpler shape than the closed in crevice bit. Thoughts? Pros? Cons?
  2. Good post. Don't give them an inch.

  4. Go on? I only watched a short video.
  5. I've just pulled a thorn out of his forehead, presumably from going so enthusiastically face-first at his work.
  6. Yeah, on the few occasions I've used one that did happen and did annoy a bit. Offset by the general luxuriousness though. I enjoy a quick taste of the high life if someone else has one.
  7. That it does it itself?
  8. How much? Walloping tree but nothing away.
  9. It'll take some civil servant 5-10 minutes to leave it on a laptop in the back of a taxi. Then god knows.

    Or Ragley Hall.
  11. Both of these I had broke.
  12. I had a game of chess earlier. Half the pieces were black for fck's sake!

  15. He's due home about now.
  16. For anyone with good eyesight.
  17. Quiz answers were Honda CX500, Kawasaki H1, Suzuki GSXR btw. What were the nicknames?
  18. Lovely day for it. Our station is a quiz. Riders come in from the hills or road and pull up to one of the ladies. Today’s questions were 80s Jap bikes nicknames. A field of riders mostly on BSAs, Villiers, Greeves etc weren’t all that interested. Fair comment really. Past years’ questions were highway code history, identify silhouettes of Brough Superiors etc. More the scene. Not many mechanicals this year. Usually quite a lot of wet points, difficult restarting once they’ve knocked it off to hear the quiz. Did get a foot long adjustable out as a prop but only thought of it too late. Amused some bloke who’d come up from Sheffield to follow on his GS.
  19. Told my mate about this thread earlier and then as chance would have it we poked our heads into a barn and found a barn owl! I woke it up and it rocketed out parting his hair when I said to look in. We'd both just been saying how you'd have to work pretty hard at shooting one but thinking about it now, night vision and thermal is so good and cheap these days that the gap is narrower.
  20. No. A harder one.
  21. Well this has been as much use as I suspected it might. Perhaps I should have made it a poll. Perhaps I should have asked on Facebook. Perhaps I just shouldn’t have bothered. I was asking in the hope of seeing a trend where a certain assessor/institution failed lots of people, perhaps indicating a reasonable standard.
