  4. in the ground at the moment for this year garlic broad beans spring cabbage chard and just started off leeks summer cabbage
  5. nothing more satisfying than grow your own i have an allotment and use it to the max a lot of people are fair weather growers but even now it's parsnips leeks cabbage broccoli and celeriac on the table the only advise i'd give is keep a diary of variety, time of sow/planting and quantity it's to easy to forget what you have succeeded/failed with if you have the room freeze what you can if you have a glut and get a good book on preserving ie chutneys relishes and jam if you have fruit unfortunately i don't save seed and i usually buy F1 varieties as these generally have more resistance to pests and diseases than some of the heritage/heirloom varieties

  10. if it's a bit hard to get your boot through put a plastic carrier bag over your boot and boot/plastic bag slip through the trouser leg easily plus no mud inside the waterproofs
  11. this sort of comment is the thing that puts people off commenting on forums through out this thread all my views through experiance have been rubbished may be if we both give advise the OP maybe able to pick through all the info and better himself he asked for advise not for us to start a war on who reckons they have the monopoly on listen to me because i,m always right
  12. if you've caught 10s of thousands in brand new traps you must have a lot of traps nothings going in a brand new out the box trap till it's weathered apart from mice
  13. handle them with old dirty gloves and bury new traps in the ground for a few weeks does the trick
  14. don't use a fenn or bodygrip traps their ok for rats but they need to go in a tunnel, but out in the open they will catch/trap/kill/maim non target species and remember live trapped squirrels have to be dispatched
  15. tie the bait down they are probily reaching through the bars and draging the bait to the side and eating it, their not stupid creatures or just feed em lead from a 12 bore

  19. I just enjoy doing what i do and if i jacked it all in my money grabing kids would just run the firm into the ground and then hold their hands out
