  1. I love the HAAS! I'm annoyed that I didn't know about these knee ascenders years ago! I found that it encourages a more upright ergonomically efficient stance and moving hand over hand above the hitch is so easy. Well worth getting one. Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  2. I'd try a different type of hitch first. Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  3. This government proposal is not good, they never are but cutting Kew's budget would be terrible, to say the least. This link takes you to the website and petition: https://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/globally-important-conservation-and-science-under-threat-at-royal-botanic-gardens-kew-due-to-uk-government-cuts-5m-deficit-will-lead-to-loss-of-over-120-posts?recruiter=90742455&utm_campaign=mailto_link&utm_medium=email&utm_source=share_petition
  4. Do you say that Al because your Landy 130 with a tipping chip box, winch, tow hitch and lots of upgrades is on Artrader right now?
  5. I was wondering the same thing the other day Luke but I haven't heard of anyone else using it for SRT work.
  6. Tom2020 was banned last year so he won't answer your question.
  7. The trouble is though, a Unimog doesn't have same turning circle as a tractor and shuffling a Mog about in a yard will be a real pain. Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  8. That's not a pollarded tree. That's a really really bad reduction. What a shame. Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  9. John, after your hitch system, the most advantageous bits of kit you could get would be a friction saver and a foot rope grab. The CT one seems to be the more popular. These two items will save you masses of effort. There have been many threads on the different friction savers available but ask questions on Arbtalk before you buy. 10. My HAAS arrived yesterday and I'll be using today on a big Oak. It's a very finely made piece of kit and for me, worth spending the money rather than bodging one together 'cos I can't splice (no patience).
  11. I had a great day today. Started with the usual espresso coffee while waiting for the staff to arrive on the morning express train. Arrived at the job for a quick chat with the client and he expressed his concerns about damage to his garden model railway, his pride and joy of which is a replica steam express train. I told him not to worry and he went inside to make us each an espresso. I briefed the staff and expressed serious concerns about the smell of booze in the air but the forth coming espressos sorted that out. The job was completed with out problems and the client expressed his joy. See what I did there. No? I didn't think so.
  12. I just found this great video.
  13. It takes too long to read all those different languages!
  14. There are ZigZag threads on the climbers forum and all you'll find here is us SRT fruit cakes!
  15. You'll find that it will behave differently when it's all wet. Nothing can be done about this and water will run up your sleeve. Just remember above all, continually check that the hitch is dressed and set properly. That way you'll always know that it will catch you if you slip, wet or dry. The only way to avoid hassles with a wet hitch feel is to buy a ZigZag but it doesn't have the same versatility as the HC therefore you will learn a lot more by having a HC. Keep safe mate.
  16. I still need an extra hero for the next two days.
  17. Mine has arrived and I'm confused. The elastic isn't all inside the rope and I've set it up to the correct length and the elastic doesn't retract into the rope as I thought it would. I thought the whole purpose was for all the elastic to retract inside so it's all neat and tidy. This was the main selling point for me! Am I wrong? Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  18. Being picky but why does most of the British nation think it's called Expresso?! So annoying! Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  19. Do you have a photo Ben? Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  20. Yes but that was supposed to stay our secret, big boy. Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  21. Actually I now really need anyone for the next three days. Climber or groundie. Two more men would be best. Come on, there's millions of unemployed out there! Haha! Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  22. Before you use a petrol station Costa machine open the big door at the bottom to see how the milk is stored. Some of them have the milk in a massive bottle that just gets topped up. Therefore, rarely emptied and cleaned. Be careful. Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  23. John, the HC is probably the best hitch system for you to get at this stage. It's the most versatile and as you progress you'll be able to use a RADS or O-Rig or Rope Wrench etc. Think of the HC pulley as the platform to lots of useful systems that can be used to suit your needs on any given tree. Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  24. I meant the bungee twanging me if it wasn't retracted in the rope. Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
