  1. Firstly, I hope your price was £1 million. Secondly, my quote was £1.5 million which is why you've got the job! Thirdly, hire in extra labour and schedule the job for school sports day so that you'll be cheering on the kids! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  2. I use one of these cos I'm so tough: Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  3. Take a tracked chipper down and the biggest dumper you can fit in. Chip into the dumper, drive up and tip into your truck. One lad in the truck shovels the chips forwards. Keep it all as simple as possible. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  4. You have created your own clique and you're the only one in it because of your unnecessary opinions. Erm, you've never met me or anyone that I know so you you don't know what we think or want to say and if you're opinion is a negative one, you should keep it off the keyboards rather than embarrass yourself in this manner. Just saying…….
  5. I had Unimog for these reasons. I also chose a Mog to avoid O license and HGV for younger staff. HOWEVER, it was too expensive to run for my type of work and I should have got a 16t truck with tow along chipper. Unimog type vehicle is great but it is very specialist due to the running costs. As Aspenarb previously said, The money is made by being able to remove the waste fast. That's why more people are kitting up with Arb Trolleys, Mini skid steers etc. I recently did a large tree removal. I factored in two days with my 8" chipper so I hired a 12" chipper and got the chipping done in a day. The only thing that let us down was four loads of chips in the Transit! That meant one man off site which equated to 1hr 40mins driving and the loss of his production on site whilst he was driving.
  6. Dead right. Seen it many times. No single member of a tree crew is better than the others. No one leaves the site until the day is finished, unless they're in an ambulance.
  7. Waterlogged roots during the very wet winter?
  8. Go for the bigger size then you have all eventualities covered. The price difference is negligible.
  9. That's actually brilliant IMO. Dot want it in mine though cos need the storage space. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  10. I'm annoyed that I've just wasted my time reading this thread.
  11. Yes and I used one for several years and it was always a pain. It was just a time consuming fiddle and doubled rope re-directs are far from perfect. Joking aside, the reason I climb on a single line now is for the re-direct advantage.
  12. Don't be so sure.
  13. Thanks for the replies. I guess there isn't a better way because the clamp is a rubbish design and as the old saying goes: 'You can't polish a tu#rd'. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  14. Is that just for what you've put in the photo or are there more? I really like the look of these. Thanks.
  15. Or a double pulley on a sling. Better still, put a Rope Wrench above your HC and work on a single line. you'll have no friction at all then. 😱 Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  16. It's definitely Chalara. The Daily Mail said so! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  17. BEST POST SO FAR! A bit of hysteria is a good thing for most of us. It provokes all sorts of emotions. Some of us start ranting, some of us hit the booze, some of us chop logs. My reaction is usually to buy more gear online, that I don't need!
  18. Transit is crap cos payload is so poor but cheap to run and easy to drive. Swings and roundabouts really. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  19. I have a KM100R. I've separated the two parts about 10 times to use the extension for the hedge cutter. Now the clamp system won't tighten sufficiently to hold the two parts together. It's a rubbish design. Has anyone come up with an ingenious solution? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  20. Thanks. That make sense. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  21. No tats but it gets worse. He was wearing braces as well! Hahaha! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  22. That's a disgrace! I'd have thrown the towel in and gone home. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  23. So you're selling the Iveco because you don't need the off road capability and considering replacing it with an agricultural 4x4. Have you considered one of those mercedes 6x6??
  24. Do you mean remote controlled or autonomous? If the latter, google RoboMow. You'll also find that Husqvarna and other brands make them. As for where to rent one, I've no clue. Sorry.
  25. I had a really bad day Al. One of my groundsman turned up for work wearing a wife beater!
