  1. So the decision was made very easily in the end and only took 2 minutes. Another Jensen A540 from Arbrep Services. The reason for the decision was simply because of the exceptional service and back up that I've had for years from Arbrep and the fact that the Jensen is a proven machine and has now been improved. Also, I rented a TR8 yesterday and compared to my old A540, the A540 chipped the big stuff better. The rollers accepted the 7-8" stuff more easily. I was surprised because I expected them to be the same. Plus, the Forst is an improved upon Jensen and now the new Jensen is improved upon that. Happy days!
  2. From what I've seen, no one stuck wi the LJ RW combination because there are four better products on the market. If you want a device that can be used on DRT and SRT and is quick to get on and off your rope, the BDB or Unicender ticks those boxes. If it's a device that switches between SRT and DRT then I'd choose the Hitch Hiker or BDB (although I have not used a BDB).
  3. You don't need a thick 13mm rope for SRT work because you're not pulling yourself along the rope like with DRT. An 11.7mm rope is the favoured option and Cougar Blue does not seem to be popular with Rope Wrench users. Any of the others seem to be a good choice.
  4. What is the mystery grey goo? Is it JB Weld?
  5. What he said. NPTC Certs mean that you'll be a qualified saw user and tree climber with that saw. They do NOT mean you're a qualified tree surgeon. I answer to one of your other questions Danshayler, age is mostly irrelevant. By being older you'll hopefully be inclined to work smarter not harder.
  6. Dean your mail box is full. I can't pm you.
  7. Yes but first I'll ask loads of questions on here and procrastinate for 5 weeks. Then I'll start another two threads about the loop. Then I'll spend 6 hours on the internet. Then start another thread. Then I'll buy two.
  8. Had the Stein trolley since it came out and it's the best money I ever spent. Apart from that first drink when I met my wife……..!
  9. Ok but this doesn't mean it's a bad machine. Any machine can develop a problem for a variety of reasons.
  10. I actually hired his tracked A540 again last week. It's a good machine and I can't find fault with it. It's the same as my A540 but with design improvements.
  11. So what machine did you choose then Ian? Thanks Al. Edit: I'm guessing a Greenmech then. What about the spare parts? Don't they have to be bought through Orangeplant at a hefty price?
  12. Strong words Dean Please check your Private Messages.
  13. Sorry Dean but you don't have a dealer network near Horley high street!
  14. Time to change my A540. The decision will be made on which machine appears to have the best warranty and and customer support. I think. The ST8 has 3yr warranty but I'm concerned about service after that. Jensen dealers are a bit closer to me. I feel the Forst is a better design. But I know Jensens. !!!!!!!!!
  15. Still on the look out………...
  16. In what way did it have nothing on your tr6? Thanks.
  17. Best thing to do when you see someone checking your place out is to walk out and photograph the front of his car and hopefully him. That will make him think twice.
  18. Is anybody else wondering if Joy Yeoman was formerly Mountain Man aka Le Sanglier??? Or am I way off the mark here?
  19. WTF are you doing visiting a friend with a harness & Silky??!! :0 :0
  20. Hahahaha! I didn't know there was an ignore button. Anyway, if I'm not allowed to make stupid posts, I'd never post anything!
