  1. Good idea Ian. A few bottles of Merlot is always advisable to build up courage before doing a dangerous job!
  2. Question is: How much effect can oil have on the chain tension? Can the heat build up cause the chain to go tight, or indeed slacken off?
  3. I don't know Al. I'm not pricing tight and the work is still flowing in. My kids broke up last week and state schools next week so this is the time my phone normally goes quiet. This post will be the kiss of death of course!
  4. Good point. Well done.
  5. My t540 was a dream, for the first three months. Now it's the most annoying saw in the world, after my 560xp!
  6. Why not phone him and ask the question directly.
  7. Take it back to the dealer and swap for a t540xp. If it's like mine, it won't oil at all 80% of the time. It's a bitch to start 100% of the time. Alters its own chain tension 100% of the time. At least you'll know where you stand with it, sort of, not really.
  8. Now, that's your first mistake! 😂😂
  9. Brave words! I bought chipper knives from them and they were genuine. Maybe they offer an option on copied knives but I doubt they'd have a guarantee.
  10. Ah, you're assuming that I allow the ice to melt before drinking the good stuff! lol!
  11. A Jensen A540 or a Greenmech. I had a Safetrak 1928 on hire recently and was very very impressed with the design and build quality. I really got the impression that it's been designed by operators not guys in an office. (Apart from the levers to operate the tracks. These are 2" too long!)
  12. Alcohol may work as a diuretic but that little problem can be fixed by adding ice to your favourite drink. In hot weather I favour six ice cubes in my Vodka, instead of four. Perfect.
  13. Oh my god! Surely your analogy isn't likening Clarkson to a super car?!
  14. I've been using 16mm Polydine for several years now. Excellent because its stretchy, in a good way, and runs perfectly on the bollard.
  15. That look likes some very cheap labour you have there. I notice they're not wearing correct boots, however, the Hi-Vis vest will ensure safety!
  16. It's 7.5 " but if the log is smooth it will take 8". It's infinitely better than the old A530, however the new A530 has a shorter wider hopper so it's much easier to feed.
  17. Other good thing was that Arbrep serviced my A540 whilst I hired theirs. Perfect.
  18. 90% of my work is domestic. Very busy. Not slowing down at all, even at a time when it normally does.
  19. Not a great deal, just quite a few minor things. Grease points. Stop reverse bar with buttons. Better mounts for components under the bonnet. Others that I can't remember too. Thing is, it's a proven design and therefore difficult to improve upon. A good example is how much better a new Skoda car is, because the old 1980's one was so bad! The Jensen has always been good.
  20. Haha! No, nothing exciting like that. It was half way over as I took the photo.
  21. We are out with the new Jensen A540 tracked machine. Great machine, like the old one with design improvements. Thanks to Arbrep Services for the rental with trailer at a good price!
  22. None. I saw it on an American forum and ordered it straight away. (I know what your thinking, I usually procrastinate for 3yrs before not buying it)
  23. Do you mean like this one, that doesn't exist either? http://www.teufelberger.com/en/products/arboriculture/fall-protection-ropes/tachyon.html Lol!
  24. Looking for a freelancer. Most of our work is in the Reigate area. Call Al on 07834 414271 or email [email protected] Thank you.
