  1. Exactly that Ty. I had a woman recently tell me that the job is really big so I should price it really 'keenly' to get it. I asked her why I should work for her, four days with a team of five, for tiny profit when I could work for other people and make good profit as I'm neck deep in work. She looked aghast so I walked off. Brilliant!
  2. Thanks Paul. However it made no sense to me, cos I'm a tech retard. But, I've since watched two more tutorials, which could have been in Mandarin. Anyway, I've cracked it and I'm now the Sena guru but don't worry, I'll remain modest. I'll say one thing though, these 10S appear much easier than the SMH10.
  3. I've also just got three sets of the new 10S. The pair from the dual pack were paired in the factory so they paired instantly on the first outing but are a hassle to pair since then. The third set is a hassle to pair every time. I've been talked through it by the chap at Treekit but as I'm the first person to buy the 10S it was a voyage of discovery. Anyway, I must be missing something. The technology should be better, surely, as currently we have to attempt pairing many times and then it just happens, for no apparent reason. Also, buggered if I can get it to pair with my iPhone 6! Before you ask, Al, yes I have done exactly what you said AND followed the online manual. (Thanks for your help BTW).
  4. Tie a rope to the client's car then lash it round the logs. Then drive off hastily! Perfect.
  5. That's the decider then. Another Husky 395xp for me. Too many bad experiences with Stihl products and even worse experience with their after sales policies.
  6. I knew you'd chime in soon! It's good though cos I can calmly tell you how to do things, as I sit in the truck! 😂😂
  7. I'm on my third Jensen and had no problems apart from the expected ones. I stick with Jensen because the after sales service from Arbrep Services is excellent. However, I do think that your first move should have been to get the dealer to sort this rather than ask this forum for opinions. Plenty of the folks that offer strong opinions on here have never used a chipper!
  8. Not at all. I'd condemn all my gear every year, just so that I can buy the latest stuff.
  9. I hope these aren't brilliant because I've just spent my wife's shoe money on three sets of the new Sena things. Lol!
  10. Is that the one at Conduit Lane?
  11. It's kind of irrelevant. If an employee has an accident and the ensuing HSE investigation reveals that better 1st Aid training could have resulted in a less serious outcome, the employer could be liable due to negligence. It's the same syndrome as giving an employee standard A-frame step ladders. The employee then falls off (for whatever reason). The employer could then be negligent for not supplying staff with a tripod step ladder. Recent history has shown that if a better option was available to the employer, ambulance chasing lawyers will show the employer to be negligent. So, what I'm getting at is that if there is an injury then an investigation and the employer can show that they put staff on the best 1st Aid training course available to them at that time, the employer is demonstrating that they acted diligently and took all steps practicable.
  12. THAT'S NOTHING! The Local Authority halfwits in my area have decided to charge the public £25 a load! As you say, save a few quid on operating costs at the amenity tip then spend tens of thousands on clearing up the fly tipping! Absolute idiots!
  13. Don't forget the blue paint Bob.
  14. Call Greg at Arbaid. He runs a very professional Arb focused course. Well worth it, when you consider the alternative. These dedicated courses seem expensive at a glance but actually work out only a touch more in reality.
  15. PM or call me as I understand you may not want to share your secret tip site on here.
  16. Typical. There must be other places though. I can't believe that there are no tree surgeons in that area. They must tip somewhere and I'm happy to pay.
  17. That's what I wondered, along with: Why rig bits off then fell the stem onto the lawn? Why rig bits off then drive a tractor all over the lawn? I'm not criticising, just curious about the approach.
  18. I'm still looking for a tip site somewhere near there . Thanks.
  19. I'd be interested to know how comfy the boots are when wearing spikes.
  20. After reading these posts about dodgy starting and flooding issues, maybe I'll get another 395xp! Lol!
  21. Are guys running your 661 on 2 stroke or Aspen?
  22. Push in as much as you can at high speed then run off!
  23. Mercedes! Explain to me why the rear park sensors have failed, both front suspension shocks need to be changed, seatbelt pretensioners have failed, one wing mirror adjusts itself, the clutch 'judders' like hell 25% of the time and all this happens at once after only 50k miles! Sorry. Ignore me.
  24. Wow I did start this thread a long time ago. Anyway, I lost my temper, threw the Harkie in the bin and bought a Cut n Climb. Comfier than the Harkie and slightly more waterproof. Only slightly. Then I got hacked off with that and got a really expensive Pfanner Ventura. I was delighted with the design and comfort and it was superbly waterproof, until I removed it from the packaging and wore it the first time! It was utterly useless and Pfanner couldn't give a toss. I was very disappointed by the jacket and extremely disappointed by Pfanners lack of customer care. Anyway, IMO most jackets are pretty waterproof until they become contaminated by a fine film of chain oil that is inevitable due to our job. Washing in Nikwax Techwash definitely helps and is cheaper than buying yet another jacket. I'm now back in the Nikwax treated Cut n Climb. The Ventura is relegated to being the most expensive work jacket that stays behind the truck seat and makes me sick every time I see it.
  25. Yes I think Peter put some figures forward on a thread a long time go. They made perfect sense and were perfectly plausible IMO. It was a good illustration of just how foolish a 3.5t is for Arb work if you're business is busy. Now that's the crux. It's my opinion that many firms don't run efficiently and can never achieve the critical mass/volume of work to make the step to a lorry and big chipper. Some people choose not to of course.
