  1. After what has been a fairly successful year financially for our team we are looking to renew some of our saws, currently using two 2008 model ms200t they get good regular maintenance checks but are now starting to play around from time to time, I have read a lot of reviews on the new 201t and the new husky xp540t I'd like some Honest opinions on both my choice would of easily been stihl last year but after buying a 261 and it being Constantly in the work shop and being transported back to the supplier for warranty works I'm now not so sure. Is it a bite the bullet choice with luck more than judgement playing a part in getting a reliable saw that's starts when you want it to and has minimal down time. Also looking for something to replace the 261 it's under a year old sounds and runs horrendously and is far more temperamental than the 8 year old ms260 that we have. Thanks for reading all the waffle look forward to reading some replies mark x
  2. Congrats mate, been said already but iv learnt a lot from this site and it really has aided me in my career in arb and I can honestly say its made me a better surgeon. Pat on the back thanks.
  3. At least there's no risk of him cutting his rope. And he doesn't have to spend money on expensive boot polish.
  4. Adl online do it they are based in Canterbury completion of the units online line and then a final exam.
  5. Can you not do your training and still keep the job you have? Until suitable arb work becomes available. Best of both worlds then you can pay your bills and have the tickets to move on at a later date.
  6. That's what I done, finance enough money to take time out of the job I used to do travel to the training venue buy all my ppe saws climbing kit and complete loads of courses. If you can afford the repayments then go for it, the only thing is it still took me a little while to find the work I wanted. Three years on I have some good experience under my belt and earning pretty good money.
  7. What a great watch. Wouldn't mind the work shop!
  8. I'm a little confused over the heading, what makes this a chance of a lifetime and for who? You getting to cut down the tree or the guy getting it cut down for nothing?
  9. Lots of files packed for tomorrow then.
  10. Tight looking spot that rich. How low will you get the stump?
  11. Was sent this on Facebook so though I'd share on here. Nice idea
  12. Very precise cutting completed with ease. Liked very much.
  13. £5.42 an hour. I wouldn't do it. Stay there till something better comes along. Shouldn't think you'll have to look hard to better that.
  14. Just want to say what a great day I had at the jones arb show, great to meet Josephine Hedger the uk climbing champ learnt a lot about the use of srt and some good throw line tips didn't realise I was listening to her for nearly two hours. Landed a few good shots on the axe throwing meet Steve bullman and got my hands on my first arb talk T shirt and at a discounted rate, had a good chin wag with mr bolam sham I couldn't stay over but definitely will be next year. Cheers to all.
  15. Put these on eBay today if any one is interested cheers mark http://bit.ly/1alN5fY
  16. Great vid great tune.
  17. Same here lay in until eight. Nice bit of breakfast and book I've wanted for a while "going with the grain" by mike Abbott.
  18. Never used to wear gloves when climbing now it just doesn't feel rite with out them. Tan lines are a bugger tho.
  19. As above really why do people use it what are the advantages, disadvantages, or is it just a preference?
  20. When making mine I some times get a gap like that shown in the pic but it doesn't make any noticeable difference when the saw is in use. Like you say you could go to the trouble of adding in an extra cutter but at the waste of an another tie strap I wouldn't bother.
  21. After contemplating a switch from the vt for a while I used the Knut for the first time today. Ocean polyester eye to eye on Yale imori worked a treat for me. Had to break out the knot app as After a quick study last night i couldn't remember how to tie it. I found it sets a lot easier than the vt and just generally got on better with it.
  22. Wish I could take the credit for it mate. All down to my dad. Still can't believe the price of it.
