  1. Depends what line your working on to the cost of compensation. End of the day you must think there is a possibility of you fouling the line or you would bot of bothered to contact network rail or start this thread. Just think is one jobworth losing your business over if it went wrong? does your insurance cover you because alot of policies exclude working on the railways even if you did not intend too

  8. Martins was a good company if you grafted.. We always made money ,unlike some of the crews.... Went downhill when big tony chapman left. Harrison was ok but had murdoch at his side who just fducked things up.. Gary dawes the main man up scotland for QTS now.. Try railscape, cleartrack and homegrown. Dont think QTS do owt down your way unless you wanna head north west. Get on the leaf fall sites. No thorn on them and will improve your felling and speed.. Hard work but money there to be made
  9. You need a pts to work on the rails. You need to be sponsored by a company to do it who is link up approved. Depends what your expecting!alot of thorn on railways and some crap working times. Good money if your on for the right firm and also good enough, being fresh out of college though means i doubt you will be as fast or as good as alot of the guys. You make a mistake and you put yourself and possibly employer out of work...
  10. exactly.. Do what makes the client happy and what works best for you. People can drag things out on here
  11. own personal little battle between these three.. Get yourself a drinky and chill!!!
  12. Handshake alright for pruning Mr Smiths tree in his garden, but when a council want X amount of trees removing and pruning and crown lifting etc you have to give a written quote. Never mind wasting the paper/ink bull **** as someone put it.. Its a technical age for the comercial client......
  13. Thats why you just get the green one £79.. Who said it did not cost anymore to have your occupation on when its not needed.....
  14. so i will run my little van over to cumbria fron NE . Lets say 200 mile round trip, Thats 35 quid worth of fuel but your gonna pay me £90 plus my day rate. Granted wear and tear and insurance but if i am making £55 a day on my costs which are all tax deductable then thats an extra£275 a week ..Not bad.. Will be having a new motor soon then at your expense!!!!!
  15. See what your employer thinks... I have had lads with every ticket going and wanting top dollar BUT they are usless.. Straight out of college and been promised the world of colleges that just want numbers on books {HOUGHALL}and turn students out who should not of passed some of there tickets.. Also look on this forum, lads willing to work for experience as its a hard industry flooded with students who are forced into college or lose there benefits { not all before some PC starts to twist}who then become a danger. So just stick in and graft and sure you will earn what you want in time
  16. 45p a mile first 10000 then 25p a mile after that.. If you aint happy with that then dont use it.. If not using it means you dont work then enjoy jeremy kyle.. Too many people on here want every:001_tt2:thing
  17. would just get the green site labourer one. Its all you need as i do alot of sites and couple of my lads put extra bits down on theirs. ended up being charged more and sending more paperwork off . All they want to see is a cscs, they are not bothered bout the trade..Thats where your NPTC cards come in

  20. jltree

    north east

Looking for lads/ladies with chainsaw tickets for work on several contracts. The work is mainly based on sites so cscs a help. Looking for people who have at least 6 months experience and are competent in felling. Also driving license would be a help. PM me for further details
  21. Do the lines have overheads? Esasy enough saying just to crack on..But think about it. You make a mistake and you wont be cracking a greenhouse or a shed. Could find yourself behind bars. If you dont inform Network rail and a driver reports you {which they like to do} then they will come out and stop you, even when your on 3rd party land. If they deem that if you make a mistake and you could cause damage to rail infrastructure. What if you drop a branch lineside if the fence? |Howwould you retrieve it... Lots of people would say do it and forget about the rail as your not on there side but itsd not them who could end up in court or there business they will lose.. Will your insurance cover you? I know its a pretty expensive extra on mine
  22. Needle proof gloves.. Good for feeding thorn into chipper but not the best for the saw.. They are designed to stop syringes so a bit blackthorn aint a problem.. what i use.£25 on flea bay
