  1. no, the bank was a bit soft and he never kept the nose uphill. He aint had a great amount of experience but i doubt there is a course that shows you how to operate a track chipper over uneven ground.. As for wheeled chippers, very good for domestics butnot much use on the rails
  2. its a 530 t as in a tracked chipper... cheers for the advice..
  3. Tracked chipper taking it along a railway embankment

  5. one of the lads managed to put a jensen 530t on its side today, he said he did not switch it off so was burning oil. it cut out on its own accord. When i got there and got it upright it was covered in oil. When i tried to turn it over it made a clunking noise. Anybody know whats up or has it seized? cheers Any work is welcome work:thumbup1:
  6. hi was just looking for some input into what people think the best hi vis chainsaw trousers are? They must be network rail standard but must be class 2 [24m per sec] , they also wanna be comfy for climbing in. cheers any work is welcome work:thumbup1:
  7. currently doing tree work on the raiks but have level one too for doing veg clearance on cliff faces/tunnel mouths. what type of money is it?
  8. if your doing any work near overheads on rails you need track possession. T3 . overheads must be isolated and c form obtained before any work commences. So if you aint got your rail tickets your not looking good...sorry
  9. expensive in the emerald isle though. I went to buy a ms200 from cathcarts and they wanted a touch under 700 quid. Can get the same saw for under 500 from gustharts. Any work is welcome work
  10. well good luck with that. I will have a bambino bouncing about in a few weeks so will have to be organising work a bit closer to home to suit the family..

  12. Yeah. spent a fair bit time abroad already but since i got married thats stopped!!! If i was single i would be off[again]. Still have lads in the woods i know and work aint bad at the min as long as your willing to travel, especially on utilities, My mates who work power lines have to head up to scotland or the south and most of the bigger rail works are down south too.
  13. the injuries sustained from a silky can be worse than a saw as people dont wear the correct ppe and become complacent since there is no noisy engine
  14. done the last 10 year away myself. Been back to north a few years but still find i have to work away through the week to pay the bills. Done some work on Nissan for Mcalpine for Marley n they said soon as the coalition came to power 100s millions of work was scrapped. Such as new metro link, would of been alot of work on there... .

Still has 5 or 6 working for him but done a few bigger job for him as he does not want to take anymore then have the task of laying them off if work gets quiet, JTS doing the same thing as are alot of companys throughout the country i have noticed
  19. What type of partner are you looking for? are you looking for someone to come in financially or to maybe run part of the business or boost it? I currently run a small buisness working mainly upon the railway infrstructure and have 7 lads workingon contracts throughout the country but also do work for JTS and Olivers when they need a hand. [email protected] Cheers jason
  20. :thumbup1:am currently looking for a groundsman and a climber to work on contracts throughout the country on the rail infrastructure on a sub contract basis. You must be registered for tax![not good i know]. Also you must be able to drive and hold pts and valid medical. Any work is welcome work:thumbup1:
  21. depends if your taking it straight fron network rail then you have to be a link up approved contrctor. if your just workin for a company then as last fella said you need to be pts for starters. you would also need a coss/site warden. paperwork involved nowadays is a nitemare especially since its all been changed yet again. good luck with it and make sure your price is good and expect the unexpected, cos there is no corner cutting any work is welcome work:thumbup1:
  22. seems alot of gear. you can just use a rope and a ratchet strap. any work is welcome work:thumbup1:
