  1. thanks for your thoughts, doesn't look likie im going to get a definitive answer, currently using mineral 15 40 in chipper/digger and semi smthetic in 300tdi, purely as this is what the manuals say, probably should stick to that as well as good quality as mike tm150 says if any of then go bang i want to iliminate(?) the fact i was trying to say a few meagre pounds.
  2. yeah all these are good plus... use red in all vehicles, employ cheap east europeans, don't bother with insurances or PPE, buy yer saws of the blackmarket.
  3. good thread! i do all the above, i reckon yellow pages is the biggest waste of money, especially with the power of the internet now.
  4. great stuff. cheers for that, why would you use 15/30 super in a tractor then, as i would imagine thats the one engine thats going to need the best oil it can get. price i suppose?
  5. Incidentally Iv always thought it just as good to use a cheaper oil like super u and change it frequently rather then longer with havoline/castrol types etc
  6. Takeuechi mini digger, Timberwolf chipper 150vtr? was going to use it in the landy too 300tdi but...
  7. looks bendy up there!
  8. At this time of year i tend to change all the oils in various bits of machinery, Usually I use fairly decent stuff in the chipper and digger, but im thinking of buying a big drum of super U tractor oil this year 15w 30, Not to be a cheapskate (well maybe a little) but if tractors do mega hours and mega work on this stuff why would it be any different for a chipper. What do you guys use quality (or expensive) or quantity?
  9. I wonder how much thatl go for, Id probably pay up to 4500 for it but i wouldn't be surprised if it gets more than that. Like the idea of a hydraulic winch and am wanting to fit one to mine, is it best to take it of the engine or gearbox?
  10. but anyhow, iv got the week off apart from friday so bring it on...
  11. I don't reckon southern england will get anything worth getting excited about, just an instinct!
  12. mate of mine has carbon spikes with big velcro band straps, very very comfy, but i don't think they are expected to last that long.
  13. I dont think 2-300 is unreasonable for one of the most used bits of kit in the bag that will serve you for 20 years, considering other bits of climbing kit last barely a year and still cost a fortune, ropes spring to mind. not to mention gimicky accesories
  14. I wonder though, on average they are buried 6 feet so tree roots especially Ash wouldn't get that far down, and if they did the body would have long since dissolved, Sorry to be so graphic!
  15. I bet you didn't really just pinch youself though did you?
  16. true, but usually this only applies if it hasn't been meddled with by the customer.
  17. well the manager didn't have a choice it was either that or him come down and make a noise in the shop. blackmailed might be a better word:001_smile:
  18. Have to agree it does rather sound like he was bullied into giving the tenner back to you when really he didn't have to. Its not like it suddenly developed the ability to not stand in a stand after you bought it
  19. Christ, on a Sunday, in this monsoon, i'd sooner keep drinking tea:thumbup1:
  20. fools, they deserve to be crushed:confused1:
  21. Or just ask the customers to leave it round the back out of site.
  22. The trouble is, humans are apex predators and therefore there is nothing to control our population, in fact we seem to go out of way to help increase it. Therefore the current food production is destined to get more desperate so the idea of 750,000 hectares of coppice just won't swing in the future, im afraid i see it as a bit of a lose lose situation whichever way we look at it. I'v just finished building over 200 meters of devon bank 7ft high. done with a minidigger this took me two weeks, 60 years ago this would have been a winters work for a team of ten farmworkers, so techncally although iv been efficient iv taken away jobs, I don't think DEFRA would pay for the alternative tho!
  23. ah yes, that'l be my idea! It could work quite well i think but you know what people are like they wouldn't water it and in a nice hot house... I suppose you could have a deposit system so if it gets returned to you in a good state of health they get their deposit back.
  24. I had this idea of having say 100 trees of different sizes on the go at once, then renting them out including delivery and collection, once a tree gets too big to be realisticly rented out it gets planted untill its worth chipping for biomass, it would be a rotation obviously, and its 'green'.
  25. nice chisel work tommer9, it was done by chisels i take it?
