  1. I use the Sthil glasses . They do mist up sometimes, but the orange lenses make even the gloomiest of days days look just lovely.

On what basis did they say that they are "bad news"? Given that they are "untested" and "no one really knows the effects ". Sorry, but you really can't have your cake and eat it. No research means that you can't really put forward that sort of an argument. There is, however, lots of evidence that shows that fags are really bad for you.

The sonic screwdriver. I've always been a sucker for a shiny gadget

I have to admit that I did try one from tescos and it was horrible. I think the problem was that I just felt that I was smoking the nicotine equivalent of quorn. I just felt ripped off. I've gone for fruit flavours this time and it seems far more pleasant. Also bought a proper kit. My kids love it, they think that dads got himself a sonic screwdriver.

Do you? Did you? I've just bought an e-cigarette thingy in a bid to give up after 36 years.
  7. It's not often you'll hear me say this, but I do wish our laws where more like those in the USA when it comes to thieves.

    Bargain!

Stihl MS880 Chainsaw | eBay and so is this. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Husqvarna-Chainsaw-3120-XP-Excellent-Condition/221597277699?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D28111%26meid%3D949616fd6b96440f8d99a329caf31b1e%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D11472%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D331388971256&rt=nc
  9. Pretty much what I was thinking. Big bores?
  10. seen lots on fleabay, including big bore kits, but are any of them quality (i'm seeing a lot from Hongkong and that fills me with fear).
  11. 346xp, 550xp Both on 15" 372xp on a 20", with a 24" in the landy. day to day this seems to cover most things.
  12. Been using my new 550 for the last three weeks, wasn't too impressed at first, but now the engine has run in it's become a very nice little saw. I know it's only early days, but I've not felt any inclination to reach for the 346 yet, and I bloody love that saw. Taking off the spark arrestor did seem to free it up a bit (or it could have just been my imagination).
  13. Cheers I'll give em a try.
  14. This is all a bit last minute and I don't have time to wait as I'm working away at the moment and living in the woods on the job. The job is near Reading so I need to get them there. Can't really see UPS finding me to make delivery.
  15. Cheers Jon. Hopefully they'll go for milling rather than firewood they look like some of them could be nicely spelted and not a bad size 36"ish.
  16. Feel free to call me from monday morning onwards. Located in Pangbourne. Viewing welcome. No good trying to pm me as I'll be living in the woods. 07938597333.
  17. Does anyone know where I can buy a snatch block in Reading?
  18. Not really arb related, but this is my lot last night.
  19. Hawthorn often leaves the tip of the thorn in the wound. Might be worth getting the doc to check it out especially if it's in the knuckle. Had a mate who got a thorn in there, it got infected and the infection travelled up his arm at an incredible pace (up the tendons). He ended up having to have surgery to sort it.
  20. Do you have a price in mind?

You may be right, but for me 3 series huskies where the dogs shiny bits. the 5 series saws seem to be absolute belters, if only they worked reliably.

Got to say I love my Huskies, use a 346 every day and love it. Use my 372 several times a week, and love it. Use my 560 every day, but ultimately have to put it down and pick up the 346 when it refuses to warm start (such a shame, belting saw). Just bought a 550 last week, I like it, but we will have to see about reliability.
  23. Because we are a public forum. Not everyone on here works in the industry, or if they do, they are not always representative of the best of it (mostly, but not always).
  24. I can't even see a chain brake on those ones, like the colour though.
  25. Know a guy who lost a chainsaw because he put it down on some float without switching it off. Took seconds.
