  1. Deere had the new 8 wheeler working, we watched it for a while I'm sure
  2. It's a lot like the farming shows where it's a lot about just seeing and talking to people. It was a good show and the ground was good for a demo I think, the tiger cats had some big timber to fell on their block but it was actually their contract so really it was just another day for them. There was a lot of new harvester heads to watch though and some of the improvements are pretty amazing.
  3. The only problem with electric files is they heat the tip up so much when you go to sharpen them with a hand file it is the hardest thing and it just blunts your file so you can only sharpen again with the electric one

    New Ford Ranger

The reviews in the D-max have not been so good and they are little bit more on price. I will see this week and can compare but at the moment I'm really for the ranger and now I've got a dealer with a 63 plate limited who said they will give me a good deal on it so might even have one by weeks end.
  7. Get a Honda, easy to fix and easy to use
  8. I have just looked it up again in my phone and it is right my old sat nav went a bit mental and went miles away. 12 hour drive!!

    New Ford Ranger

The load space in the back on a double cab is a bigger selling point for me. I have a few saws and a fuel can but mainly tool boxes and every now and again 3 or 4 25L cans of diesel for the machines as we have 2 bunded tanks that stay in the woods. Compared to the new shape l200 the size of the back and the truck is massive but next to a navara it's pretty much the same. MPG is pretty much the same now on all new trucks but you don't buy a 4x4 for economy so can't moan about it but they do say the rangers can get up to 35mpg. I'm going to test drive a couple this week and also booked a D-max so I will see.
  10. We are coming up to this but from the email it's giving a different address? Saying it's just south of Newcastle, any help?
  11. A guy called Rab runs it, seems like a nice guys and knows his stuff. I got my job from it so I probably owe him a beer

    New Ford Ranger

Cheers craig and 5 shires. I have driven the limited with the 3.2 engine but that is a bit more money so I'm test driving an XLT 2.2 150hp one tomorrow, I'm not botherd about heated seats and that lot, electric windows and air con will do as even the real basic model is a major upgrade compared to my Hilux. The waiting list is pretty long on these things if I orderd one this week it won't be delieverd till August at the earliest.

Cheers everyone. I know a few people with them and they love it and say they are worth every penny but also know a guy who has a 12 plate one and it's given him so much crap it spends more time at ford then on his drive. I am also thinking a d-max so will be having a look around for them too. The guy I work for has a new hilux invincible and it's nice to drive and good on fuel and in the woods but they are another £5,000 on top of a ranger. Steve I was telling someone about your truck might be up for sale, he is well interested and has cash in his pocket if you are still wanting to get rid of it, let me know
  15. I am currently driving a Mk4 single cab hilux with 200,000 on the clock, I'm now working for a good firm who pay well and pay often. Work is coming in fast at the moment and the jobs are getting further and further away, some of them are stay away jobs. As much as I love my Hilux it is just not great on long distances and I need a double cab to keep tools a bit safer while sitting on site and also want a 5 seater. Ford are banging out good deals at the moment on 13 plates so was just wondering if anyone had any experience or even owns one? I know when the new shapes first came out they has a few issues but they have seemed to of fixed them now. Cheers
  16. I'm the best groundie in the world Alasdair but I don't have a big ego about it 😄😄
  17. Ah right that's pretty good, I'll see how I get in with the new ones and I might out an outer set on I don't know yet
  18. I asked my local dealer if I could drive holes in the cover and he said it would invalid the warranty, so I I'll just stick with the inside dog.
  19. On the 560 the nuts sit flush so by putting a plate on them it would make the nuts sit off the end
  20. There would be no way of fixing one on
  21. Cut some new dogs for my 560xp as the ones they come with are crap when felling all day. The first photo is of the old set and new set and the 2nd photo is the old set sitting Infront of the new set on the saw
  22. Give them a couple saws and get them cutting
  23. I've got them on my pick up, I haven't got stuck yet with them. For the money they are great I will replace them like for like when it comes down to it. The only thing I would say is when it rains, go easy on the country roads as the back end likes to play about.
  24. Joe court forestry does, give him a ring
  25. my 9 month spaniel called Willow, comes to work every day. Can't get out the door without her.
