  1. A forwarder Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  2. Perfect plan! So have you not got a pick up yet? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  3. Funny you should say this because the first forwarder he drove was a OSA 250 and he loves them so much he has just brought a right old scrapper to fix up and get it working again. He would probably love to work on yours and yes he drives all over Britain. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  4. Oh right that's alright then, is it all working alright now? He drives miles a week. I saw him Monday night at the yard and he said he had a few places to go and won't be home till Sunday, he is in Wales somewhere tonight. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  5. Haha if you know him well you will know he won't care, his brother is mentioned on this site alot too. There is another contractor not far away and he is another JC so just wanted to make sure. How do you know joe then? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  6. Just man up and get an F-250. It might just about fit on your drive haha Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  7. That is annoying and embarrassing to read. How the FC think they are doing good is beyond me. I went to interforst show in Germany last month and was talking to a few contractors out there and they all laughed and was shocked at the state of forestry and timber over here, they are so far beyond us it's crazy. They are thinking 20 years ahead all the time unlike us who are thinking 20 years back about our old oak woodlands and wild life that we used to have and now spending billions to save it for another 5 years. In 50 years time what will our timber production be like and what would the FC be doing if they are still around? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  8. Exactly that! Why can't we learn from other country's about forest management and timber production and specially now as all these "Eco" stuff comes up on new built houses and such things. Surely it would open their eyes to what they could have and make money out of instead of turning a blind eye to it and try something else. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  9. Exactly this is the problem we are having down here. £4 a ton is crazy might Aswell just stay at home. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  10. A few contractors down here are saying the same thing. Just so many people buying machines and under cutting people on cut and extraction rates. I know of a contractor who has just taken on a 2500t job for £4 a ton! How can you compete with that? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  11. Things are getting bad in the south I would say, so many people buying machines and so little blocks left to cut. We cut 3000ton off the Isle of wight over Christmas and that is almost the island done. No one seems to be replanting anymore. Scotland is on a different level to what we have down here. They seem to replant a lot and still have a lot to cut but I'm sure there is a few people up there wondering what's going to happen in the next few years. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  12. It's really good. 250hp iveco engine in it so it climbs steep slopes and takes loads really easy. 10m log lift crane picks up everything. I know there is another up north but apperently there is another one in Kent now so there is a few around. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  13. this is the forwarder I drive, HSM 208F 14t. Half way through loading 2 bays of 3.4m Larch log. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  14. I drive forwarders and harvesters and live in the south of England. In 5 years time I can see alot of contractors selling up or going to Scotland Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  15. Hilux, ranger or rodeo. Everything else has a bad reputation.
  16. We buy engine oil off a haulage firm down the road from us a 1000L a time and it goes through the saws and harvester heads, never had a problem
  17. There is always a set of bunk pins on eBay off an 840
  18. The milk powder for new born calves. Best smell in the world
  19. I'm with Aviva, 58 plate HL3 hilux is just over £600 and I'm 23 with 3 years no claims and they are really helpful with everything.
  20. Thought this was going to be a Stihl thread after reading the title
  21. I wouldn't want the crane to snap off though! Still looks a good macjine
