  2. If I've lent someone off sombody it goes back in the same condition of I lend something it comes back shagged last thing was turfer will not grip the wire to pull through. No more lending me thinks
  3. Have you asked when you will get a lead climber rate? A lot of guys I know will pay the least they can till confronted. The way I'd play it is have a week where all jobs are done ahead of time and everyone's happy then tell him your running a tight gang and are worth more.
  4. Have a chat with your boss and explain the way you feel it matters very little what others earn or think you should earn. It's down to you and your boss to come to an arrangement. Can he afford to pay you more ? Do you get any other perks? If I get a good lad I'll look after them but I allso don't have lads on the books that have to be paid week in week out come rain or shine.
  5. I completely agree but trying to get either locally at an economical price is impossible. I've givens the cliant the option of buying in sawlogs and having them milled and the price has always put them off. We did some raised beds out of sweet chestnut for a cliant but the timber was his own. It really has stood up to the test of time and doesn't seem to stain like oak does.
  6. Completely agree with the point on men laying down there life for the country my old man use to drum it in to me. But I do wonder if they could see what great Briton has become they would do the same. I can honestly say I don't no who to vote for as there all as bad as one another
  7. Completely agree nowt wrong in getting some one with more experience I'll openly admit if I fell with a 260 362 460 I can put it where I want it once I get up to 660 or a long bar I am not as accurate.
  8. I've herd the Spanish authority's are pretty poor. I guess the fact it's Ester weekend has made it worse people getting off early. Good luck getting it sorted
  9. Think you might be right
  10. Not another one it's a Dailey event gutted for you mate.
  11. That's awful scumbags everywhere:thumbdown:
  12. 6 cube done & 1 + builders bag and a £50 people just getting bits till it gets warmer. Disappointed I've not sold all the billets but loose logs all gone Got lots to go at for next year lets hope it's a more consistent season
  13. Get on the list Jon the fillets outstanding and the rare time I've had a Wellington it's been delicious. Unfortantly the new miller&carter in Hereford is dire service quality attention to detail are poor We went on pens birthday and it was that bad we walked out complained to area manager and got gifted £100 voucher which we will save till we have a stay in Birmingham. We only go out once a month and like to have a quality meal
  14. Thanks I'm trying to weigh up if I should go for a big cheep machine for the yard or a more compact machine that wii cost more but can be used on the landscaping / trees. Decisions decisions
  15. Are you sure that's red oak mr idiot
  16. Is that a 1.5 tonne how much could you realistically lift with that machine.
  17. Now you have lost me im going to have to google it
  18. Often do this after a heavy night
  19. Do you have white glasses and a stick by any chance It's always hornbeem
  20. If you pick a length up and think blooming hell that's heavy is sc the scourge of the modern firewood merchants.
  21. S chestnut low grade firewood but it burns pref keep as much air going through it as pos it takes 12 months to dry properly. Sc needs to be burnt at below 18% mc anything above that and it burns poorly
  22. Jon camp coffee is liquid coffee flavouring was used a lot in cooking
  23. I take it this is where the under ground cable fire is.
  24. Yes why would you have a tipper for bags you would need a crane that takes you down to a ton so 3 builders bags or 2 cube bags and leave your lunch box at the yard. Anybody doing any volume of firewood needs to be able to get 4 cube bags on Ive been hiding from the fact that I need a tacho for ages but I'm at the point now where I'm on the road that much vosa are going to nab or worse have an accident and the insurance be void. I'm going down the 5/7.5 tonne route it narks me but what other choice do I have.
