  1. Place I'm at the moment resembles a swamp.Started off was mossy and bit of grass and weeds now it's sloppy, dirty iron ore filled mud up to my knees does America have ppe regulations like us Brits?
  2. Old farmer next door to my spot just started selling at 2 pound for a large net.Rediculous, also taking alot of custom off me.
  3. as whats said above, blinking hard graft but it is a great free easy life with no corperate numpties in suits giving you earache. If you need any advice when you purchase some land feel Free to drop me a message,I'm in process of planning out a plantation on my own land using the EWGS grants. Wish you all the best in your new endeavour .I myself went fom high end MOD security to doing this full time.I'm not as rich but I am damn happy and I've never looked back. Also not to hi Jack but I'd Also like to offer a hearty thank you to all on the forumn,as all lthe advice is absolutly priceless!.And you hav all helped me no end, spot on group of people on here
  4. Could try an old 034 stihl light fairly small but pack a blinking good wallop and will drive an 18 inch bar fine.pick them up pretty cheap too.I use mine all the time and love it
  5. Not to sound horrid but if you can't figure out from the above descriptions how to cut with a 15" bar you want nothing with a more powerful saw.I don't want to read another accident thread dude.there no joke powerful saws, the 15" will get it do the cut roll and join the cuts again, then wedge it open with a wedge pop saw in and go for the little bit in middle. I've had to do just as big with a 16" before when my main saw died
  6. I've got an ambundance of large diameter tires up in Cumbria if anybody wants any. And if axe is getting stuck try keeping it blunt as a bollock. Also speed and weight of axe are a commonly overlooked issue.the hand sliding to the shaft needs to be fast. And if your back starts hurting then do more abdominal exerciss as your core is too weak
  7. If you can roll it cut thru half way, get a few hands or a levering pole roll the old girl Over and continue the cut that should do it bud.Dont ever feel silly asking questions.Ask a question and feel a fool for a moment, never ask and be a fool all your life is way I look at it.
  8. my thoughts exactly, woods hardly easy to source. The customers over the years are really starting to get extremely un appreciative, but hey if they want to pay D.I.Y store prices go let them Ive give up loosing sleep over it
  9. loving the look of your yurts,me and the missus need a nice quiet retreat to come relax and we are defiantly impressed by your set up looks quiet and ideal

  10. if quoted a price via previous conversation it always boils my goat, when they start welshing on the price. cheap stacking price that hodge. If customer is old, frail or disabled then i would never moan about helping them.Usually you find its the young uns which are the laziest

Hey folks, was just wondering what your prefferd method of advertisement was and which yielded best results.I'm on a shoestring budget, and sadly alot of "quality" log suppliers have popped up in my area and I wish to open up to a larger audience. And get the word out alot more I've tried the supermarket notice boards and local store windows, and there are posters up all over the noticboards in the local shipyard. I am flapping incase my sales hit any lower
  22. I'd go with what renewablejohn said. Don't let The gloomy busy bodies get you down bud.Play the temporary Structure card and they can't do jack.tried I with me once didn't hold in court
  23. aye dabble bit in strongman in spair time.was a 450lb telegraph pole had lying about doing, step ups
  24. Aye get em split now.Much easier to split and as everyone said it willseason alot quicker.for the amount you got I'd just use an axe or maul if you have one lying about
