I usually cycle off for a month before a compe let everything rest, this is first time tried 8week run up to it and I think I've overtrained, had some big planting jobs on tho so brayin in stakes all day probably did most damage to my elbow sure blinking sucks,it's only time it's stuck around for more than few weeks had nice night of good mornings and weighted hypers tnite great lower back pump

    Smoothies

Keep the ice cream if feel like it man it won't hurt so long as your active. Unless your forced to have soya milk due to lactose issues I'd not use it as soya easily converts to estrogen...not what us males want alot of in our bloodstream lol

As good for you as liver is I don't even think I could stomach that haha
  4. Aye I Always use a spotter my little training buddy,he's only 16 stone but his numbers ain't far behind me so I trust him with helping me out of sticky situations nearly dropped bar on myself last nite due to tennis elbow I'm losing all gripping power in right hand due to the pain.I hope it heals in time I'm trying everything to stay away from a cortisone injection.Got an infction of the trachea at moment aswell

    Smoothies

Got it in one lorry bud haha I still love any vanilla flavoured shake tho even after all these years of protein use and abuse haha manly tho it's all about quickness and vast amouts of calories in one sitting,I have a pretty poor apptite for more than three cooked meals so if I can blEnd the other three up into smoothies or shakes it works better for me
  6. Cheers for support mark I'd imagine a bodyweight bench for reps you would do very well at tho, being 125kg I suck at that comp haha Bench shirts are really designed as an injury prevention tool in the early days to help lower chances of pec or shoulder tear or rupture if you got a single ply one and used it only for flat bench mayb twice a month I'd see no foul play,I use It for big heavy singles and it does give a slight advantage,if I use it for high rep worK like 6reps upwards. It actually is great for streasing the pecs into new growth as they are handling a weight they normally wouldn't use. They do take a bit of getting used to tho and require a differenbar groove when pressing upward
  7. I had a full on blow out on one of our remoulds wouldn't ever buy one again was foolish of me in first place re treads are evn worse I've had entire treads just let go with no load on

Oh have I ever done smoothies from 4 boiled egg whites with six tins of tuna and orange juice to just plain old water with chunks of ice and two chicken breasts haha I like to use handful of mixed nuts , two scoops of whey Protein a blob of ice cream or rice pudding two bannana's a muller lo fat yoghurt and top with semi skimmed milk can also add handful of rolled porridge oats aswell if that wasn't already enough
  9. Not to be so anal lol but knurling is actually the scored in criss crossed grip part on the bar.The part you refer to Mark is simply called the collar it's been a year plauged with hard jobs and nasty injuries dave so not hoping for much other than to just make it to the comp haha it is indeed an open comp however there are the usual weight catergories. Competiion is a push and pull and also a bodyweight bench for reps comp for fun aswell.Competition is raw so belt only no equipment I train equipped (bench shirt and squat briefs) and un equipped.I only started using a shirt after my pec tear, but to be fair I only gained 34lbs on my bench from it just put up a 192kg bench for three tonite and last week hit 297kg deadlift for two and nearly a very close third so numbers shouldn't be that bad
  10. Thumbs up on the les paul got two myself
  11. Cheers for link j I'll be using them for sure need new wraps and squat briefs in few months anyway. I compete year round in powerlifting and strength sports anyway steve so when you get some let me know be nice to wear somthing none industry related everyone always has protein suppliment sponsor shirts haha
  12. I remember had a go on my friends pull up bar that hooks onto door frame, crash bang wallop down me and the door frame came haha. Careful if your climbing alot not to overdo the pull ups as climbing really hits your lats and back muscles hard as it is. Got bench and deadlift comp in Carlisle end of month if want me to wear an arbtalk shirt on the platform let us know steve I don't mind doing bit of free advertising
  13. Heavy tricep work is the key to a big bench if benching properly for strength then chest hardly comes in to it.strong lats and upper back are needed to support the weight. If can Tate press 150 pound dumbells then it equates to the ability to bench press over 400lb easily in most cases so nail those triceps dude haha
  14. Saves money on fuel you know us tight northerners haha.so you rate the stretch air T's then steve? May give one a try to compare as the hotter weather is approaching. Was heartbrokn to be forced to shave my beard haha certainly was cooler without it
  15. If your fat and unfit cardiovascularly I'm sure it probably does as fats an insulator.
  16. Wouldn't be able to pull trucks built like a racing snake bob ya cheeky imp
  17. Condensed tips: heavy weights low reps above 5 sets tho plenty of good carbs healthy fats and a big wallop of protein plenty of rest and fluid avoid machines and cable exercises and stick to bread and butter basic barbell lifts and hit your core and lower back and work it hard with resistance.
  18. I am an avid wearer of these new fandangled stretch coolmax t shirts companies are bringng out.Regatta do a very durable coolmax t shirt fo hiking wicks moisture away and is fully breathable, alot cheaper than stretch air I paid £25 for mine and they are all i wear so much better than a cotton t shirt
  19. good to hear your lifting again bud .cant beat a nice heavy session with the iron. some people really like rippetoes advice, kind of apples versus oranges thing i think lol plus i think the guys a pretty nasty guy in person to be honest aswell The further over your toes your knees go the more stress that is placed on the very small patella tendon right at front of your kneecap,in the end with heavy weights it leads to chronic pain and stiffness,at worst a complete patella tendon rupture. If you havnt tried box squats too much i highly recomend them it will help with your squatting balance issues aswell, your toes are well behind your knees and teaches you to squat primarialy using only your hips and glutes, good squatters shins will never move, all the movement initiates by breaking at the hips then sitting back.If wanting toease back in after a lay off or just fancy anything new try jim wendlers 5 3 1 method,i combine elements of that in with westsides templates its a fantastic little method. if any tips needed for box squats hit youtube with "westside barbell box squats" .
  20. For weekEnd warrior his advice may apply but he hasn't produced any high ranked lifters, and his instructional videos on form are terrible.knees over toes on squats,no explanation of hip thrust.I was bit hasty to say fraud as his Olympic lift instructional isn't bad but his powerlifting advice flat out sucks. I'm a competetive lifter so maybe my veiws are biased from only following people who can back up there info with guys who put up thousand pound squats lol
  21. Try YouTube elitefts YouTube channel and anything by westside barbell, rippetoe is a fraud and his form will hurt you over the years, terrible strength coach.I follow modified westside template for my powerlifting meets. Good luck dude
  22. Holla and I shall appear haha good beginners workout split to the world of strength would be push, pull, and lower body three days a week no more than 40 mins needed. Push day I'd warm shoulder. Up with some light overhead presses Then some barbell military presses, followed by flat bench then finished off with floor presses. And some heavy pulley pushdowns with cambered bar Pull day do some highrep situps and hyper extensions and head straight to deadlifts, follow up with some high cleans, and then some bent over barbell rows, finish with high rep rear delt raises supersetted with face pulls. Lower body two mins cycle warm up then knees and head straight to squat rack, proceed to do nice controlled squats to at least parallel.follow up with stiff leg deadlifts Warm up set of 15 reps to start then after that do set of 5 reps then 3 then final set do two reps (or a double a it's known) eat like a king sleep well, and despite what anyone says on here if trainin hard enough then your body will need outside protein sources or protein shakes. I can't even humanly eat 5thousand calories of solid food a day. Any questions fire away I'll be glad to help.

Yo lorry I don't suffer with gas to be honest god knows how, even spanking down three weight gain shakes a day my tummy still downt emit gas, only time it did was when I decided to up my leafy greens intake, that was like dropping a gas bomb where Ever I let rip haha

    Running

Keep the weights in there and keep protein and healthy fats up and you shouldn't lose the muscle I like hill sprints with weight plates in back pack or make sled up tie it to your harness and do weighted sled pulls.build strength stamina and cardio at same time.Seen too many injuries from normal flat high mileage running.Circuit training is great to shift things up a bit as mentioned. Anything that keeps heart rate up for sustained period of time will build cardio endurance.
  25. Thanks for kind words people and I'm gla I'm not the only guy who has been a nugget with petrol, dare say probably won't be the last. Can't say as I'll be doing it in a hurry again, usually pretty good at lighting brash the ray mears way, grew up watching him all thru childhood.Impatience and stupidity finally got the better of me I guess. Bright side I won't need to be shaving anytime soon haha sure gets heart going better than a coffe I can say that much. Just hope I don't turn into a wuss ass and bottle it around fires from now on.
